The hotel is ideally situated just 2 minutes from Westbahnhof station, it is very easy to reach from the airport, we travelled in on the express coach (6 euro single) departs every 1/2 hour.
We returned on the underground and S Bahn (1.50 euro) time in was 35 minutes, time out was around the same.
The hotel is ideally situated on a side street Kaiser Strasse, off the main street, the whole street is great for shopping with plenty of restaurants and take aways all along it, there are also 3 McDonalds, some of the department stores are huge, the C&A is the largest.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, we stayed for 3 nights and had clean towels each day and a bed change on the middle day.
The staff at reception were extremely helpful, all the staff speak English, included in the price was a superb breakfast, continental and also cooked, bacon and eggs and sausage, plenty of cereal and juices and cold meats and cheeses from a buffet style service.
The best value was they give you each a travel card for the duration of your stay, this entitles you to free transport on all the systems, trams, underground, bus, and S bahn railway.
We used this extensively to get around the city, it was very easy and once you got use to the system it became very easy to swap from U bahn to tram and vice versa.
All the major sites are within easy reach of transport systems.
The city is beautiful and the sites are amazing, the prices are a little on the high side, small beer at £2.50, glass of wine £4,
however if you buy outside of the main tourist spots its a lot cheaper.
The Vieneese people are lovely and willing to help at every opportunity, and vertually everyone speaks English.
I would recommend this hotel as the ideal location at a fair price to visit this very delightful and scenic city

“Good hotel, small rooms”

We stayed 9 nights in a double room for € 109 /night (the rate went up during week-end though), breakfast included. There are, as usual, pros and cons.
The reception staff are kind and very helpful regarding room change, extra pillows, and general information as well. The lobby is quite small, since it also hosts a small bar. The hotel accomodates travel groups and they cramp the lobby easily during evening hours.
We were accomodated on a different floor (away from travel groups) which made a quiet stay. The room is on the very small side. There is enough space for clothes, the bath room (having a shower only) is of good size. But the room does not necessarily invite to spend too much time in it. The real draw back is that there is no air conditioning (an employee told us that the architect had forgotten to plan it) while the windows cannot be fully opened due to the furniture. They come into the way easily due to small room size. The room was well maintained and cleaned during our stay.
Breakfast was all right, the room however too small and service slow and somewhat overstrained. A good part of them must have been students on a summer job. Annoying was the fact that the smoders' corner was just in front of the breakfast room, permitting smoke to come into it.
The hotel's location is very good, next to the subway station "Westbahnhof".
Considering the rate, the friendliness of all staff and the location, this hotel was a reasonable choice. Next time we would opt another hotel with reasonably sized rooms, however.

First of all, the InterCity Hotel states that it is close to the train station. It is, but it is really hard to find. when coming out of the train station (front door) you turn right until you come to the Marianhoffstrasse, then you turn left until you come to a little street corner. If you look left you should see the InterCity sign, even though it is sideways so it doesn't exactly stick out!

The room was cramped for two people and was extremely hot. No airconditioning or even a fan. The window opened a bit but not enough to cool off the room. When you had the window open over night it was REALLY noisy.

the buffet breakfast was lovely though, and you have the choice of eating out on a patio which had a nice breeze.

Skip the hotel's Internet in the lobby (2 Euro for 10 minutes!). There is an Internet place right next door which was really reasonable (1 Euro for 30 minutes).

the hotel was very convenient to shopping and the underground.

“Great staff but room needs air conditioning during the summer”

The hotel staff is very nice and helpful in giving directions. The room is clean and simple however, the shower in the bathroom is too small. It is also located near the train station, tram stops and the airport bus arrival/departure stop so transportation is easily accessible. The hotel is near a church so you are given an automatic wake up alarm when the church bells ring at 7am. There is no air conditioning so when you keep your windows open, you have no choice but to wake up early. It did get pretty warm in the evening during mid- June so it was uncomfortable to sleep at night. Since I had to open the windows to cool the room, if there are people in the courtyard, their conversations could keep you awake at night (very frustrating) but this was only on one evening that I was there. The location on Mariahilferstrasse is good for shopping and dining. I stayed here a total of 3 nights (2 in early June and 1 in mid June ). It was just a stop for me between visits to other countries in Europe so I found the close proximity of the train station to be a great bonus. I would stay here again but probably only during spring or fall when it is cooler.
