We spent 5 nights at Le Meridien over Xmas.
This hotel does not disappoint.
Excellent location for sightseeing, shopping, U-bahn and CAT transport to/from the airport.
We were given a 8th floor (top) room which was very spacious and treated to Xmas chocolates and cake twice during the stay.
Interior decor was very modern and clean.
Did not eat at hotel restaurant.
I travel extensively and found this hotel one of top Meridien properties globally.

“Sleek and slick (mostly)”

Le Meridien Wien

Spent 7 nights here over Christmas.
Positive points:
- Location, location, location - can't get better esp for museums, art galleries - and short (relatively)stroll to Stephansdom.
- Sex appeal - Hotel looks great (posted some pics of dinning, bar and lobby).
- Lovely friendly and very helpful staff incl concierges
- light therapy in steam room and sauna(although you feel you're sitting under a neon sign)
- great showers

Negative points
- food doesn't match looks - had Christmas dinner here - overly fussy, poor cooking, uncertain mixing of flavours, sometimes undercooked, sometimes not fresh (fish). Good looking breakfasts - but every of the 7 days the hot food was cold; the egg chef(s)struggle to fry an egg!; great selection of dried fruits and nuts (but this is the gloss - get the hot food basics right first!).
- car ordered for the airport did not turn up; left luggage was "misplaced" in different places;
- fabled minibar & tea facility was not filled on 3 days
- despite pride in quality bedding (this hotel has a menu of pillows) and boasts of its Sealy mattresses, sadly mine sagged
- sexy bathroom but NO HOOKS - I need somewhere to hang my Calvins!!
- I thought rooms verged on "Ikea" rather than Ligne Roset (all that blond wood!)
- room doors needed to be slammed - so every night, was treated to a succession of clanking frosted glass on crome (& there is a lot of glass /crome in the room!)
- concealed designer coloured lighting causes expansion of wood / glass / crome - so to avoid the (loud)creaking on warming up and cooling down, did not use concealed lighting at night!
- a bit disappointed by the toiletries (Le Meridien issue) - rather than a "reputable" source (sorry!!)

PS for decent cooking, cross the road, down the side of Burg park to the Palmhaus: succulent juicy fillet beef with caramalised onion, fish soup with fish raviolis, rich oxtail served with plums, FRESH fish - ate here 2 dinners and 1 lunch!

PPS perhaps I'm being a bit mean but the above differentiates bet 4 and 5 stars (this is a stylish 4 star hotel in a good location with friendly & helpful staff although cooking can be improved, rather than 5 star cosseted in sublime luxury heaven!)

“cool design - sleep there, eat elsewhere”

Lovely hotel with an echt blend of new and old design elements characterizing old Vienna. Helpful, fun, and slightly camp staff. We were disappointed in the restaurant Shambala (actually "shambolic" insofar as the first course of our Christmas Eve dinner arrived one hour after ordering, and then after only after a complaint). Food was underwhelming. This for 100 Euros a person.... Also, no non-smoking section. The rooms were elegant and modern and on a non-smokng floor. Of note, as the hotel is three townhouses together, there are stairs (but no ramps) between lifts and rooms (at least on our floor) which makes lugging luggage difficult. The pool is small, but it has a jet which means one can swim against the current, not unlike an endless pool. Big effort to decorate and bake for Christmas - absolutely delicious stollen as a gift in our room. Superb location.

“Did not disappoint...A five star hotel in every way”

Le Meridien Wien

I read all of the Tripadvisor reviews and selected this hotel based on them. It did not disappoint and the reviews were very accurate.

The service in the hotel was definitely 5 star. Why? Service was helpful and friendly without any pomp. We were greated with a Carpe Diem brand drink and their were a pile of cookies at the counter. Next to the computer opposite the reception desk, was a plate of clementines. Our room had two apples and a stocked minibar. There were, of course, 2 robes and 2 pair of slippers, an ironing board, iron, a hot water heater to make tea or coffee. Christmas eve, we were left with a pair of christmas slippers with a stollen stuffed inside them. The concierge was very nice and helpful.

The size of the room was average. It definitely wasn't small. I agree that the design was stunning, but in some ways functionality was screwed up. There were not enough drawers and hanging space was somewhat small. There was no place to store the suitcases. However, there was a lovely coat rack. The linens were top quality. Either the furniture was built in or it was movable. Chairs and tables were on wheels. The bed, nightstands and desk were built in. The bathroom was a decent size and very modern, but badly designed. The shower and bath were lovely, but a door would have been nice on the shower. Toiletries included grapefruit bodz lotion, and a separate shower-bath gel, shampoo and conditioner all in fruit scents. Towels were plush and large. The room temperature was comfortable. There was a make up mirror in the bathroom. There was minimal space to lay down anything next to the sink, but there was a moveable table cube in the bathroom. There was free internet in the lobby and the room and wireless access in the lobby. They have some loaner computers for the room as well.

The fitness center has nice equipment...weights, running machines, elipticals..a jacuzzi and a pool. Saturday and Sunday hours are 9-7 and other days, 6:30am-9:30pm. Breakfast is super...gravlox, lox, herring in cream sauce, meusli, several yoguorts, lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, french toast, fresh omelets, scrambled eggs, dried meats, lots of wonderful cheeses, potatoes, bacon, sausage, etc., and delicious breads and pastries. There were fresh squeezed juices in addition to the usual bottled ones. Loads of cold cereals.

The room was about 35 meters and had blonde wood and frosted green glass. Very stark and modern in design. The plasma tv must have been 40 inches.

My only complaint was that I had to call and ask to have my room cleaned at 3pm. Umbrellas, converters are available and cheerfully provided.

The hotel is well situated near the opera, tram and underground and the museum quarter. For $104 euros per night, it was a steal and I would recommend it highly. I have stayed at a number of 5 star hotels at double and triple this price and this was of equal calibre.

Since the moment we entered till the time we left it was unique experience. Style of the hotel is very modern with artistic touch. We stayed at superior room and after reading some of the reviews here I was little afraid that it is going to be small with even smaller bed, trust me it is nothing like that. Queen size bed is very comfortable and big enough for two adult persons, oh yes and you can choose from cca 15 different types of pillows.
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and better then in famous Fabio’s where we went next day.
Gym is superb and pool area is very nice although some might say that pool itself is a bit small.
Highly recommended.
