I read all of the Tripadvisor reviews and selected this hotel based on them. It did not disappoint and the reviews were very accurate.
The service in the hotel was definitely 5 star. Why? Service was helpful and friendly without any pomp. We were greated with a Carpe Diem brand drink and their were a pile of cookies at the counter. Next to the computer opposite the reception desk, was a plate of clementines. Our room had two apples and a stocked minibar. There were, of course, 2 robes and 2 pair of slippers, an ironing board, iron, a hot water heater to make tea or coffee. Christmas eve, we were left with a pair of christmas slippers with a stollen stuffed inside them. The concierge was very nice and helpful.
The size of the room was average. It definitely wasn't small. I agree that the design was stunning, but in some ways functionality was screwed up. There were not enough drawers and hanging space was somewhat small. There was no place to store the suitcases. However, there was a lovely coat rack. The linens were top quality. Either the furniture was built in or it was movable. Chairs and tables were on wheels. The bed, nightstands and desk were built in. The bathroom was a decent size and very modern, but badly designed. The shower and bath were lovely, but a door would have been nice on the shower. Toiletries included grapefruit bodz lotion, and a separate shower-bath gel, shampoo and conditioner all in fruit scents. Towels were plush and large. The room temperature was comfortable. There was a make up mirror in the bathroom. There was minimal space to lay down anything next to the sink, but there was a moveable table cube in the bathroom. There was free internet in the lobby and the room and wireless access in the lobby. They have some loaner computers for the room as well.
The fitness center has nice equipment...weights, running machines, elipticals..a jacuzzi and a pool. Saturday and Sunday hours are 9-7 and other days, 6:30am-9:30pm. Breakfast is super...gravlox, lox, herring in cream sauce, meusli, several yoguorts, lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, french toast, fresh omelets, scrambled eggs, dried meats, lots of wonderful cheeses, potatoes, bacon, sausage, etc., and delicious breads and pastries. There were fresh squeezed juices in addition to the usual bottled ones. Loads of cold cereals.
The room was about 35 meters and had blonde wood and frosted green glass. Very stark and modern in design. The plasma tv must have been 40 inches.
My only complaint was that I had to call and ask to have my room cleaned at 3pm. Umbrellas, converters are available and cheerfully provided.
The hotel is well situated near the opera, tram and underground and the museum quarter. For $104 euros per night, it was a steal and I would recommend it highly. I have stayed at a number of 5 star hotels at double and triple this price and this was of equal calibre.
