“Management withheld key facts. Fine if you don't have any problems.”
We stayed at Villa Park for 2 nights and left with mixed feelings.
During the booking process, we corresponded with Roger and asked for a room with a balcony (room 208). He confirmed that room was available and requested payment in advance to finalize the booking (fine). Upon arrival, we let ourselves in using the codes provided during booking (easy). However, we were given room 202, which not only does not have a balcony it doesn't even have a window that opens "due to fire code". Instead the only fresh air the room gets is from a jail cell like vent below the window.
As noted in the previous reviews, there is no one onsite to address any issues and you have already paid (in other words, good luck...) We sent an email to Roger immediately and received the following reply, which I felt was somewhat condescending:
"We can never guarantee special studios to guests. Requests of a special apartment is something we try to fix as good as we can. 208 is out for a longer period and we had no choice than to change some rooms, all hotels works like this. Main thing is that it must be the same category as reserved, as you now have. Sorry for this."
This policy was not made clear upfront and the rooms are all different, so switching them up last minute (especially from balcony to no air at all) was frustrating.
On the positive side, the apartment building is in a great part of town, more residential and on the way to Vigeland/Frogner Park. It worked well for a triple and allowed us to eat meals in the unit. Close to the tram and an easy 15 min walk to the main tourist sites.
