The main bad point about this place is undoubtedly the noise. I had a room a bit away from the road so I didn't have too many problems from there. The worst comes from inside the pension, you can be disturbed by doors opening/closing and women in high heels clip clopping through the wooden corridors. It does have nice high ceilings so there is not too much noise from above. Some of the noise could be negated quite easily, many of the doors squeek loudly but only need a drop of oil. I slept much better on my second night.
It's not altogether clear how the pension decides what are its 'best' and standard room. My 'best' room had a mini fridge and kettle but no 'kitchenette'. I didn't really want to cook though so it was not a problem for me, and I did get a nice double bed. Some of the rooms do look to be in awful places though, right next to the lift shaft or next to a door leading to the stairs - I would hope that these are the cheapest, most basic rooms.
The main good points are its central location and comparative price. Its an easy walk through a nice park to the National Theatre station and many of the attractiions. There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity and a supermarket/7-11 as well. It is also very clean and the nice thick curtains block out all of the light.
The is internet available in a common room at a charge of 1NOK per minute, which is fine if you just want to check in online.
