This is the one hotel in all my travels that has exceeded my expectations the most and I would choose to stay here everytime, holiday or business. The modern decor, facilities & comfort factor were equal to (if not better than) most 4 star hotels I've ever stayed at.

I was in Oslo for 2 nights/3 days for a business conference being held at the Radisson SAS Plaza hotel nearby. I needed accomodation that was affordable, comfortable and nearby and really didn't expect the Thon Hotel to be that fantastic having seen on the internet that it was only 2 or 3 star. One can't help feeling a bit suspicious when the room rate is also so reasonable. I guess I was expecting something like the Mercur or Ibis, which, in my experience are terribly uncomfortable and really just like staying in a shoebox-come-hospital. But I was really impressed on arriving at the Thon because it was nothing like that at all. I really loved the Thon hotel.

Unfortunately they were booked out for the 2nd night of my stay, so I had to move to the Radisson Plaza, which left me feeling a bit cold in comparison (despite it being 4 or 5 star). I could see the Thon from my hotel room the next night and wished I was still at the Thon.

The staff were also very friendly and the breakfast great. And of course, I have to mention the convenient location, right near train and bus stations, shopping centre and a short walk to everything else. This is a hotel for all and you will feel comfortable here.

I was looking for an inexpensive hotel in Oslo as I was travelling on holiday but I am used to staying in nice hotels for business travel. The hotel is located right outside the Oslo central railway station and very easy to find. It is right in the heart of the city center with a wide variety of shopping (it is right across from the big mall in Oslo) and lots of inexpensive dining around. Try the Kebabs at the restaurants next to the hotel! There is also a 7-11 next door. The hotel has a breakfast buffet and free Coffee in the lobby. My room had internet access and a flat screen t.v. Some of the rooms are very small (the room I was supposed to get was not yet cleaned and I saw how small it was), but the business-suites are huge (the receptionist upgraded me to this room since the room I was assigned had not been finished being cleaned). All in all I am very pleased and would recommend!

Convenient location, we move our reservation to this hotel when we learned that the Thon Astoria would be closed for renovation during our visit.

Rooms were nice, great breakfast buffet, basically no services otherwise -- this is a basic no-frills hotel for business travellers.

Access is real easy from Oslo S. (train station) -- north on upper level skyway bridge to Oslo City , then down escalator & out the door in the NW corner of Oslo City -- the Terminus is just across the street. Convenient access to nearby shopping, including Oslo City & Oslo S. is a big plus.

Somewhat annoying negative was that their TV satellite system was out of operation during our visit -- no CNN, on Norwegian language programming on the telly.

The Terminus is conveniently located near the central station (Oslo S) , so its very useful if you're coming by the airport bus/train into the city or leaving by train soon after (the popular Norway in a Nutshell trip perhaps, to Bergen). The staff is friendly and efficient, there's free internet access in the lobby and breakfasts had a reasonable spread. At 100 Euro per night, with a Skanplus offer, that's great summer value for an expensive city like Oslo !
