We stayed in this hotel on New Year's Eve and were not overly impressed.
We chose the hotel as we had difficulty finding accommodation on New Year's Eve as a lot of the hotels were closed for the holidays.
For the price we paid, we expected a bit more. First of all, we booked a double room but really it was a large single size bed with one set of pillows. When we asked to have a room with a larger bed, we were shown a really tired, and smelly room...so we took the first one.
The decoration of the room was nice enough but as we were on the lower ground floor, to the back of the hotel, we had a disappointing view of empty offices (luckily we had curtains to block them out!) - a pity as the location is right opposite Slottsparken.
At the time, the reception said they were keeping only 2 floors open, but it seemed pretty strange to us to keep the least attractive rooms open which had no view.
The breakfast was a typical buffet style and had a fairly decent selection of food.
In terms of location, it was pretty central, near the main Karl Johans gate, opposite the Slottsparken and near Bogstaveien - a nice shopping street with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants.
Overall, we wouldn't recommend this hotel however if we had a larger room on a higher floor overlooking the park, then our experience probably would have been different.
