Carlton Hotel Oslo Norway: the room was small, the bed was not so comfortable, the plumbing kept giving us problems, but the staff was very helpful; the main advantage - the location in a charming neighborhood close to the center, in walking distance to the trams and the main streets - and the price was reasonable.Our friends who also stayed at the hotel with us were lucky and had no problems with their room. We would return - because of the winning combination -wonderful location + price.

My sister stayed at this hotel for 3 nights! It was very clean and neat and quiet. It is only a few blocks from a tram station in a quiet part of town. The breakfast which was included offered eggs, bacon, cereal, breads juices and cofee and tea plus all the weird Scandinavian things like fish paste in a tube! The room and bathroom were small but we were only sleeping there. The breakfast room turns into a Japanese place at night which lets you order out and take up to your room! You can get a beer around the corner down the small hill from the hotel. We walked to the shoopping area easily from the hotel also!

Toilet blocked the whole time we were there (3 days) and on the Saturday night we were told we were being too noisy so the man on the reception desk actually opened the door and came in our room to 'tell us off'. The fact that we were in bed didn't seem to deter him.

Rather small hotel located in a quiet part of Oslo but within walking distance to the main action such as Aker Brygge, Karl Johan street etc. Very basic rooms and not particularly fresh but nice staff, cozy lobby with free wireless Internet connection and where you can order a drink (no real bar but there is one just next door that looked nice) and smart looking breakfast room. Overall, it works and is rather good price-wise for being Oslo (expensive city!).
