“friendly staff”

First Hotel Millennium

14 Oct 2007

Our stay at this hotel was a very pleasant experience. The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful...especially Marcus...who went way out of his way to accommodate us. Very central location...convenient to everything. Although we thought it was a little far to walk from the train station with luggage. The breakfast buffet was very nice...but we definitely would not recommend eating dinner there. The menu was very limited and the service was terrible. There are many really good restaurants close by. There was a little street noise, as you would expect, but it was definitely not a problem. The room was not huge, but certainly an adequate size.

“Not worth the money”

First Hotel Millennium

8 Sep 2007

I booked this hotel based on the reviews on this site. What are these
people thinking? I am sitting in the hotel right now. It's 2 in the morning and I cannot sleep because the street noise is so bad. Cars, trams, and people. This was the third strike against the hotel. The first, was the appearance. The hotel is old, dated and in need of paint. There are paint chips on the walls and almost everywhere you look. Strike two is the room. A cabin on a ship is bigger. Also, they
advertise that they have parking. Actually, they have an agreement with a garage that is a mile away. If I am going to pay these kind of prices, $236 USD, I will put my money elsewhere. Sometimes the location isn't the only selling point.

“Great Location, Lovely Hotel!!”

First Hotel Millennium

Myself and my other half stayed here for a short trip (4 days). We arrived on the Thursday and stayed until Sunday. The hotel was perfect! We arrived from the airport to the Central Bus Terminal and decided to walk to the hotel. It only took about ten minutes to stroll to the hotel, straight up Karl Johan Street!

The location could not have been better, it was a stone throw from the main street Karl Johan but it was tucked away on a nice little side street so we could not hear any of the noise when it came to sleep time! It was bril to be able to get ready, walk out your hotel door and be 2 minutes from everything in the city! I though that considering the location we would end up compromising on quality but certainly, this was not the case!

When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who checked us in real quick and sent us on our way! We were so lucky as we received an upgraded room on the top floor at no extra cost! We even had a lovely decked balcony! The room was small but everything ya need was there! I dont see why people give out about small rooms...why do u need space when your on a city break, you should be out enjoyning the city not enjoying the "space" in the hotel room!

Anyhow, the breakfast was perfect....self service buffet style....it had everything from cereal to dried fuit to toast to eggs! Brill to set you up for the day!

All in all this hotel definitely added to our enjoyment of Oslo, its the perfect spot to explore the city from...everything is within walking distance and the buzz of Karl Johan St is 60 seconds away! Definitely recommend it to anyone! Tip: Request a room high up with a view, this is all we did and we ended up with a free upgrade! Enjoy.....

I stayed 5 nights at the First Hotel Millennium Oslo, January 14 to January 19, 2007.

I stayed in a standard room with two beds.

It was clean, the room was of decent size, and the bathroom was rather large as well.

The water pressure in the shower was good and the two elevators were fast and I did not have to wait long time for them.

The room was rather quiet, I could not here much from other guests at the hotel, but I could here the tram outside on the street.

The small bar/restaurant on the premised was good, the breakfast was good, and the location of the hotel was fine as well.

The wireless internet was NOK 120 per 24 hours and it was some problem with the connection.

First Hotel Millennium Oslo is a hotel in a good location, and in spite of the problem with the wireless internet, I would not mind staying here again the next time I come to Oslo.

This hotel is in an excellent location. It is only a few minutes' walk to the harbour, the central tourist area and Oslo S (the main train station).

Our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Although we had a room overlooking a moderately busy street (of cars and trams) noise was not an issue at all, thanks to double glazed windows. Actually, light was more of an "issue" (because of the long summer days in Norway) but you would have the same "issue" at any other Oslo hotel. :)

There was a decent breakfast buffet.
