We stayed at Hotel Ullensvang on June 11, 2006. We were traveling through the area after visiting relatives in Etne. We had read that this hotel was recommended but we were not prepared for the beauty of the setting and the history of the hotel. It is a most wonderful place. I wish we could have stayed more than one night.
The room we had was very average and even had some repairs that should be made--unlike all of the other more inexpensive rooms we rented throughout Norway. But the location and the public spaces of the hotel are what we thought were worth the price. The weather was perfect--warm and still. The fjord and the mountains were breathtaking. We just sat and took it all in---it appeared that everyone else felt the same way. It was like being in church--very hushed and reverent.
We wandered around the hotel lobby and lower level, so many interestings things to look at. I would highly recommend this hotel for a special occasion.
