I was a bit nervous about staying here after reading the less-than-glowing reviews on Tripadvisor, but those worries were entirely unfounded!

We ended up in a lovely double room in the newer building. The room, although small, was well appointed. The shower & toilet were awesome, with underfloor heating, and a high-powered shower. Although there weren't any individual toilettries to pinch, Dove soap and Lux shower gel were provided, which isn't the end of the world, as most people take their own along anyway!

Our rate seemed like the biggest bargin we found in Bergen, at under £100, given that a pint of beer runs in the neighbourhood of £8!

The breakfast buffet was better-than-average.

The staff, too, were great! We had a problem with our reservation (a duplicate booking), which was resolved on the spot, without even the slightest haggle.

The location, although not on the harbourfront, was very convenient to everything.

This hotel is in a good location. However it is housed in three buildings and the one we were put in left a lot to be desired. I think it was the oldest of the three, despite us booking the two rooms months in advance. The building was across the street from the real hotel and just wasn't very cheerful. It frankly got a bit on our nerves and it didn't feel like we were staying at a relatively expensive accommodation.
On the plus side however the cleaning staff were very nice and thorough. And Bergen is a very very nice city with a lot of interesting things to do.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights, for about £40/night, and were very impressed. It's an expensive part of the world and we were not expecting to be impressed.

The location is fairly central: no more than a 10-minute walk from the mainb harbour with the fish market (great to visit) and the Bryggen timbered houses. We were in the 'new wing' on the other side of the street to the main hotel. The room was reasonably spacious and spotlessly clean. The staff were courteous and helpful. The free internet connection in the reception was a nice touch.

The buffet breakfast was absolutely superb: rolls, bread, big choice of herring, fruits, etc.

Overall, I would happily recommend and return to this hotel.

This hotel left a lot to be desired. First, the positive: it was a pretty close walk to the downtown area. The breakfast buffet was very good. Unfortunately, it stops there. My room was dirty, with large stains on the bedspreads, cracked wooden door and evidence of leaking through the ceiling. It was also very noisy. There was a lot of street noise coming in, plus i was awoken by some construction guys early in the morning. This hotel definately needs a face lift, it's dated and depressing.

Staff was nice but the facility and accomodatio is really old. We paid over $100 per night but it was not worth it!!! The room was dark. The bathrooms didn't even have hotel toiletries available. Shampoo and shower gel were pump units off the wall. I would not walk on the carpet without my slippers. Full size bed was 2 twins put together. Bed was also very soft and room was extremely dark. Definitely not worth the money.
