I was not very pleased with the staff members. They gave me a double room instead of a twin room, were not friendly neither tried to help to compensate for their mistake. The room was ok, but definitely overpriced for what is has to offer. Moreover, it is not very pleasant for me to enter the accommodation through a pub.

The tourist info bureau steered me to Jacob's Apartments after I stayed in an awful private apartment for one night. Jacob's was marginally better.

First night was in a 1st floor room, where I listened to stomping feet above my head and the people downstairs in the bar.

Second night I asked to be moved upstairs, and had the misfortune of being next to a screaming child, plus road noise.

No matter where you stay, you will hear everything. Don't plan on sleeping much.

Bergen is terribly expensive for being not-so-interesting. I'd recommend paying a bit more and getting into a hotel instead. At least you'll sleep.

I hit on this hotel as I was walking around in the rain at night looking for another hotel (which alas could not be found). We got a double bed apartment at the far end of the building, which was great. The apartment was on the small side but stylish and comfortable. Mezzanine floor bedroom, small kitchen with all plates etc needed, and bathroom with shower. The 'reception' is the bar/cafe downstairs, and the staff were very helpful. Can't remember the price but cheaper than a hotel and well worth it.

As a family of five it is not easy to find affordable yet quality hotel accomodations anywhere in the world.Even more accute is the situation in pricey Scandinavia.
We were in Bergen for 3 nights at the end of april and were lucky enough to find Jabob's Apartments.
Jacobs Apartments is situated in Bergen city centre, just 300 metres from the railway station. We got a fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment with bathroom and kitchenette. The apartment was roomy and spotless and we paid a very reasonable 160 Euro per night.
Prices probably go up in the summer but I assume it will remain relatively less costly than other hotels in Bergen.
All in all a great find.
