From the first telephone call to make the booking through to our farewell, the York House Hotel proved efficient, welcoming and a great place to stay.
The room was very well appointed and serviced and met our requirements exactly. Without exception, the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. The food and restaurant service was very good.
Our three day break was designed to be a relaxing return to a holiday location we had known and visited as children and it did not disappoint. We feel as if we have found an ideal hotel for future visits and will certainly be back to Eastbourne and the York House Hotel.

I've been to this hotel several times, and in fact it's the only Eastbourne hotel I've ever returned to. Judging by the other comments here, there are two very different experiences depending on which room you secure. I've always booked a Sovereign (premium sea view) room on DB&B, and been pleasantly surprised by the size of both the room and the bathroom. There's really nothing nicer than curling up on one of the big armchairs, snuggled into their fluffy white bathrobe, watching the early birds on the beach through the massive sash windows and waiting for the breakfast tray to arrive!
The food in the restaurant is pretty good, and v good value on the DB&B option, and I'd challenge you to find a more pleasant and professional restaurant manager anywhere.
At the end of the day, this is an honest and hardworking hotel where you pays your money and takes your choices. If you can afford to pay that little bit extra, it's well worth it.

For a room rate of £86 per night, we felt we had been ripped off. The room was incredibly small and dirty. We have stayed in guest houses in blackpool that are cheaper, cleaner and with better decor. The bathroom was the worst, The sink was so close to the bath, you had to turn sideways to get to the toilet
The floor sunk when you walked on it. The shower looled like it should be in a museum. I haven't seen on that old in quite a while. We had to get a screwwdriver and tighten the showerhead as it was too heavy for the bracket it was on and unless you sat on the taps, the water didn't touch you
The bar staff and waiting staff were lovely, but i would avoid the staff on reception
Don't go to this hotel if you are expecting your moneys worth

This is the 5th year running we have stayed at the York House. For a good room book for a sea view on 1st or 2nd floor. Spacious, warm and comfortable.

Good food with a varied choice on menu. We will be returning again next year.
