My wife and I stayed at the Cavendish for 2 nights in July 2012. The room with a sea view was very good. The only problem was that there was no air conditioning, and when the sun shone on the front of the hotel, the room became very hot. A fan was provided which helped, but a hotel of this standard should have air conditioning. That apart, the room was large, impressive, spotless, the bed enormous and very comfortable, and the bathroom was excellent. the fan in the bathroom did not work, but this was a minor issue.
Breakfast was poor, however. We opted for the buffet breakfast, and the orange juice was very sweet, from concentrate, the bacon looked as if it had been boiled rather than grilled, and the black pudding was tasteless. The sausages and the fried eggs were very good, however. The coffee was weak, and my wife, who ordered boiled eggs with toast, got the eggs very quickly, but, by the time the toast arrived, the eggs were cold. A little point, but annoying.
The hotel only has one lift, so the wait was long sometimes.
Overall, not bad, but the hotel is expensive, and we expected just a wee bit better.
