This pub is great. They only do pieminister pies, and a few other basic dishes such as nachos, but it is all done really well. If you don't like pie it's probably not for you! It is a traditional old pub with a narrow bar. At busy times the food can take a while, but it's worth the wait. Pieminister pies are all ethically sourced meat, so great if you care about the quality and ethics of your food.
The ale and cider are excellent - always a decent variety on and kept on the bar so no risk of any nasty first pint that's been in the pipes all night.
It is a typical locals pub, and if you stand at the bar you're bound to have someone strike up a conversation, even if it's only the bar staff, who are friendly and welcoming.
