We stayed here for one night in a double room. The room was a good size and the bathroom was big too with a bath and very powerful shower. It has a tv with cable and wireless internet. The view out of the window wasnt that great but that wasnt what we were therefore. The breakfast also was amazing. Its very close to the motorway and as short drive to the town centre.
I would definatly recommend this hotel.

My husband stayed here 4 weeks for company business and I joined him for 3 of the 4 weeks. I found the hotel in great shape. Very clean and well maintained. The most pleasant part was the friendly staff. Everyone of the staff except for one ,and I did not let him spoil the whole barrel , went above and beyond to make our stay a good one. I was very apprehensive since this was my first trip abroad and found the staff more than willing to answer my questions about there country and the surrounding area. There are things to get used to and a few things to watch for but they will not by any means make your trip unpleasant. The restaurant will on occasions close for private parties. You can still get food from the bar and eat at the small table in the lobby. This is somewhat awkard but not totally impossible. Room service is prompt and dependable. I was not pleased with the gym or the pool. It is run by a seperate club and the machines are usually occupied by locals. In the evening it is almost impossible to work out. There is no air conditioning and thankfully they were having a cold wave while we were there , otherwise the room would have been very stuffy and uncomfortable. Overall this is a very good place to stay and I would stay there again.

It was the day of the Great Flood in the UK. Monday June 25th I was working in Sheffield and by 4.30 pm was evacuated due to the awful floods there. I made my way to this hotel and checked in without any fuss. I ordered room service which was absolutely fine and then at 9.45pm the hotel lost all electricity. I heard that some people were complaining about this but I just had an early night. In the morning the staff went round every single room to make sure the guests were all ok and told us we could not leave the hotel as the area was flooded. An hour later the staff knocked the door again and told us that the police wanted the hotel evacuated for safety. I was one of the last to leave and the staff were all at hand helping people out. The police took over after we left the grounds. With dedicated staff such as these in such awful conditions then I am sure that anyone staying here in 'normal' conditions will have no complaints at all!

Note that this property is no longer a Marriott and is now the snappily titled Holiday Inn Rotherham Sheffield M1 J33.
The website says the rooms were refurbished in 2006 but this is not true - they were the same as my last stay in 2005 (see older reviews) except for the bed, which felt new. This time we had an Executive Room (upgraded as Priority Club Platinum) and these are recommended - they are huge. I reckon they are 50-60 square metres - you get 2 double beds, a dining table with 4 chairs, a sofa with 2 lounge chairs and a coffee table! Add in the other Exec Room benefits (free water, free orange juice, free chocolate bar, free newspaper, robe and slippers) and the small extra cost is worthwhile.
Despite the rooms not being refurbed (yet), this remains a good property - in particular the superb fitness facilities which are heavily used by the locals who pay for membership. It is also easy to find, just 1 minute from J33 of the M1.
