We had two family rooms booked for the weekend. Arriving around midday after a long journey we were disappointed that the rooms weren't ready. The receptionist asked us to return after 2.30pm. We returned at 3.30 to be told again that the rooms were still not ready. The receptionist was friendly and offered complimentary drinks whilst we waited a further 45minutes. The rooms themselves were basic, but sufficient (?)for a couple of nights stay. The wardrobes were completely falling apart, and trying to find items which had fallen through the back proved that it hadn't been moved for cleaning in months. The windows didn't open and the circulating air was insufficient. The damp became apparent with wallpaper falling from walls and ceilings (a tiny amount of spilt water on the sheets failed to dry over 24hours). Our first morning we opted for the (somewhat costly) hotel breakfast; the 'full English' was mostly microwaved, and the 'continental' was a choice of stale cereal or white bread toast. The one beer which was purchased from the bar was warm and tasteless and the bottles of 'J20' were also warm with no ice available. The overall opinion therefore is sufficient for a couple of nights stay (arguably), friendly staff, nice views.
