“Central but noisy”

Central location very convenient but not at all peaceful. Although it was February the room was unbearably hot. Needed to keep the window open and were disturbed all night by buses, taxis and drunks.

We were in Huddersfield attending the music festival held there every year and although the hotel was sticking to it's full price due to how busy it was we still had a wonderful time. Other comments about the age and decor in the hotel are unfortunately true but the bar and lounge and restaurant werea ll immaculate and our room (203) was a good size and very well cleaned during the 3 days we stayed. We did not eat in the restaurant except for breakfast but it is a beautiful room with high ceiling and chandeliers.
The best part of this hotel however has to be the staff every person we say offered us either a cheerful smile or greeting. The lady who runs the breakfast was very good and even at 7am seemed pleased to see every person who came into the restaurant.

Overall the hotel does seem to be in desparate need of refurbishment but this would only improve what is still a lovely hotel.

“Very poor”

George Hotel

23 Oct 2007

This is our third stay in this hotel and unfortunately now our last. This time was a total let down. It is substantially overpriced for what you get.
The whole of the hotel needs a refurbishment and certainally a proper clean. The upholstery and carpets were what you could only describe as minging !
The breakfast was poor as in it was cold and not a very good selection. The so called English breakfast is stood on tureens that are not adequate enough to keep it hot, the plates are cold and the quality of the food is poor. We ended up having breakfast in a nearby wetherspoon pub which was far better and for a third of the price.
Our room was very cold and when we asked for the heating to be turned on we were told it only comes on from 7pm, not very good when you are getting ready for a night out.
We have as I mentioned stayed there before when it was ok, but after this last visit we will be looking for another hotel on our next visit to Huddersfield.

“What an awful hotel”

George Hotel

10 Oct 2007

Only thing going for this place is its location. Dirty, tired rooms, overpriced in need of refurbishment. You would be better off in a travel lodge!

“One to remember...”

George Hotel

For the right reasons! The restaurant and the bar/ lounge area were the main highlight of many for us during our stay. The restaurant was well designed and full of warmth and good service. The bar was a nice place to sit back and unwind from either the long drive or just a long day. The bed was also comfortable with the hot showers giving welcome relief. A pleasant stay.
