Perched high up overlooking Huddersfield, this hotel is worth a visit if you need a peaceful room just 5 minutes off the M62. Even with the windows open we couldn't hear the motorway. Our room was of an adequate size and was clean, nothing fancy. In the room were a trouser press/ironing board and iron, hairdryer, tea & coffee and tv. The bathroom was huge with a good suite and shower and was stocked with good quality shower gels and moisturisers, unlike the quality of the loo paper and tissues which was cheap. Very comfy beds and pillows and good cotton linen. Don't stay in room 19 which is located immediately above the noisy boiler room. On a more positive note, the restaurant food is fabulous, beautifully presented and there's a good menu choice. From the number of cars in the car park it also seems to be popular with locals. The restaurant itself feels like a favourite aunt's dining room, very welcoming, as was the public bar with its cosy seating and wood burner. There's also a bar menu until 9pm if you don't have the time for dining. The staff were at all times especially welcoming and friendly. We would return. Oh, and there's even a helicopter landing pad if using the M62 is beneath you.
