After seeing what was written about this hotel I booked for one night hoping to move to another hotel the next day. I arrived to a newly decorated reception and was pleasantly suprised by my room which, was clean and fresh. I decided to use my discount vouche given to me by reception in the new restaurant and WOW! What a stunning place with fantastic award winning food. I spoke to the waiter who told me that the whole hotel is being made into a boutique style hoel over the next 12 months.
This hotel has got a bright future and I extended my sta for a further 4 nights!!
Would recommend to anyone

I read the hotel reviews after I booked directly with the hotel, and expected to be staying at fawlty towers, I was pleasantly surprised, the hotel is going through refurbishment, the downstairs foyer / bar area / restaurant are what you would expect from a 3* rated hotel i.e clean well serviced and very friendly staff, the bar prices are cheaper than the majority of the bars in the centre, the dining facilities are fantastic. the bedroom we stayed in had a four poster bed and a large ensuite although the decor was dated the room was very clean, I am told this will be the second part of the refurbishment and if it is half as good as the downstairs then this hotel will deffinately get my custom again. so if your looking for a hotel that is five mins walk for the nightlife and central for almost everything else then this is it.

This is the worst hotel I have stayed in in the UK, and Ive stayed in b&bs in Kings Cross for £25 a night! there is nothing good about it and should be avoided at all costs.
Arrived on Saturday afternoon, car park full so had to pay on the road parking until 6pm.Was meeting friends at the bar but signs said wouldnt open until 5.30pm (however at 5.30 found out it wasnt opening at all!)
Bit worried on approach to the room as the carpets were worn and the walls dirty. When finally got to the room in smelt awful of stale urine, bathroon was dirty and old and there were stains on the walls and roof tiles. Luckily didnt have to stay in room long so didnt worry to much. Arrived back early hours of the morning very noisy from nightclubs outside but fair enough I knew where the hotel was and not much they can do about that. Finally dropped off to sleep to be woken an hour later by lots of noise above me took a whie to work out but realised it was PIGEONS in the roof. This carried on for 3hrs when I gave up and got up.
Went for breakfast in the bar bit that is supposed to be closed for refurbishment but wouldnt dare eat anything other than toast!
Have already informed friends who are due to saty here next year not to and would tell anyone this.

An absolutely awful place. Arrived on a Saturday night for a stay with some friends. Damp, dark, mouldy, smelly - i could go on for ever. The state of the corridor down to my room was onimous enough - celiing tiles badly stained, a mixture of must and cigarette smoke hanging in the air punctuated by the increasingly loud thumping noise from the "fun-pub" attached to the pub - which of course was so much fun that it continued to blast out until almost 1am - despite the assurances of the man on reception that it finished at 12. I asked for another room - was told the hotel was full! - as if! There were no customers in the restaurant, or the bar or reception when we arrived so this was clearly not true. There were some rumblings that the other rooms were "unsafe" so perhaps that's the real reason. My room contained a shower which didn't work properly, a bedside lamp which didn't work at all - in fact was snapped and showing exposed wires, was all slightly mouldy and damp - but all this paled into insignificance against the noise of the thumping 70s disco music from underneath and the lap-dancing club opposite my room. So we went down to the bar - as there was clearly no sleep possible here. 6 drinks - all but one of which was completely undrinkable - eggy beer......nice! When I gave mine back, I was told that the cellarman hadn't been seen for a while by the slightly bewildered barman. Perhaps he is rotting away in the cellar and turning the beer sour. And so we went and sat in a pub / club opposite the hotel - a nice, clean and entirely plastic place. Still, it passed the time whilst we watched some drunks vomit outside the hotel and then eventually be helped inside. NIce. Eventually we went back hoping the noise would have stopped. Of course not. Once the disco finally stopped - some of the world's strangest people - who must have been in there, decided to come and continue the party in the room next to mine. After a very limited sleep we left. Do Not Go To This Place. There is no sign of any renovation taking place, the staff weren't helpful in the slightest and you'll feel like you are in some 1970's b-rated horror film. Rubbish!
