Didn't stay in the hotel but celebrated Mum + Dad's Golden Wedding Anniversary with a meal - poor Mum + Dad. Firstly we were the only guests having a meal - there was a receptionist, a supervisor and 2 (very!) young waiters and we had to go looking for them at every stage of the evening. Secondly the menus M+D had been given when they made the booking (with some quite novel and interesting options) was not the menu we were given when we arrived (fairly standard fare you'll get in any modern pub). The reason for this: "we have a new chef who changes the menu every day based on what fresh produce is available" Hmmm! The food was the worst part of the whole experience - it had been a long time since my wife's haddock had seen the sea. We asked for a nice bottle of Rioja, which was duly brought in having had the cork removed in the kitchen. All in all a very poor venue for what should have been a special evening. My advice? Might as well go to Brewsters or Whacky Warehouse - the quality's the same and at least they don't pretend to be something they're not.
