“Terrible Road Noise spoils it”

Premier Inn Huddersfield - North

The title says it all-this hotel is 20 yards from the A644, which seems to be the main road into Huddersfield. It is a great hotel, and so are the staff but be warned-if you get a room on the front, the road noise is incredible.I thought I would hear something from the motorway (M62 Jct 25) but that paled into insignificance with what you get from the A644. If a lorry comes past, you can feel the vibration.I did give feedback that double glazing might help but I was told it was triple glazing-well, if it is, then I could feel the draught!
It calmed down about 11pm and then it hits you again at 5am.If I say that when you go to breakfast, the road is at a standstill with traffic, this will give you an idea of the amount of cars and lorries that use this road
I got a full refund, the staff were great-there were no spare rooms and I was told that if I came again, to phone the number and request a room at the back.
So be warned-if you get a room at the front, you wont get any sleep.

I often travel to Huddersfield and have stayed in lots of places.
I also have a 'premier inn' business card but avoid staying at them if possible.
This is the exception - I got a HUGE room (222) for a premier inn which had a brill shower and very comfy bed. I had company though in the form of a huge spider (that kept hiding everytime I called reception) but after a note to house keeping in the morning was removed. Very clean and quiet - although mobile phone reception was rubbish. food in the Old Mill was fab and service great.
Beware of trying to find this on sat nav systems as postcode takes you to a completely different place!
Would recommend highly for £55.

If we have to travel north on business we stay here whenever possible, Rooms are large and well equipped withtop of the range Hansgrohe showers in the bathrooms, The staff are really nice - especially the breakfast ladies. Food at the attached Chef and Brewer is excellent - makes a change not to have to travel in the evening to find something that isn't deep fried.

Good value, stayed here for five nights, clean and comfortable bedroom and en-suite. Room amenities and location good. Do a great breakfast too (not included in the price). Good restaurant for lunch/evening meal right next door. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful (especially Pat). Would stay here again.

Complained in writing about filthy room such as Pubic hair on bathroom mirror, bacteria on shower, inadequate fire drill notification, mug stains on side tables. Shrug from reception, complained in writing early Feb 06, got reply from "Cusstomer Services Co-ordinator"21st Feb saying I will be contacted - nothing since then.
