I read all the reviews on TA before booking this B & B, and liked what I read, particularly about them being pet-friendly. The purpose of our stay was to collect our dog who was entering the UK after doing her 6 months "quarantine" in Spain.
I am sad to report that the service we received was just short on being extremely rude. We were told that the "garden room" would give our dog freedom to use as required when we booked. However, when we got there, we were told to ask permission every time we wanted to let her out as the owners left their own patio door open to let their dog out, and it was not convenient to give her the freedom we were promised. I was shouted at when we took her out for the first time - she was on a lead, but I had forgotten to ask! We asked every time - even at 11pm when the owner answered her door, obviously having been woken by our knock .
Our room was extremely dirty, with spiders and cobwebs in the "ensuite" . The toilet seat did not fit the bowl and moved which was rather disconcerting to say the least. The washhand basin was actually in the bedroom through a louvered door. The ensuite slider door fell off its runners if you tried to close it. The shower tiles were extremely dated, cracked and dirty, and the rings for the shower curtain had to be individually moved as they would not slide on their bar.
The bed had a plastic mattress protector which made you sweat and our skin prickled all night. We felt like packing up and leaving at 3am because we were so uncomfortable, but didnt want to disturb the other guests.
Breakfast was good but apparently you eat toast AFTER the cooked breakfast?
My advise, choose different accommodation.

Alan and Sue are sorry over the delay in answering your review as we were so disappointed in your comments, for, long ago we were constantly being asked if we would accommodate dogs with their owners. Therefore we decided to use ‘Room One’, a ground floor, double ensuite with door leading to our garden for this purpose. We have gradually become known and respected for this, we do not charge for the service; it is free!

We fully appreciate your joy at seeing your dog after so long apart and understand your disappointment with our restrictions; but they were necessary for our dog’s well being and our privacy, therefore upon reflection we hope you will understand.
With regards to your comments of Room One, we were recently inspected by our local council and the English Tourist board and both were very satisfied, as are most of our guests!
However, our upkeep and renovations are on going. Room One was next on our agenda and has now been completely overhauled and all fittings and tiles have been renewed; Also, a small area out side the room on our patio has been set aside for guests, with prior permission, to sit and smoke and allow their pet to roam!
Please come and stay again or at least look in when next passing; now that we have vastly improved Room One!
