This is an absolutely beautiful location, especially if you like scenic walks. The Hilton Grand Vacation Lodges are amazing. The pool and exercise rooms and staff are great.

The Hilton Dunkeld is set in beautiful grounds so its a shame the hotel doesn't match its location. The reception is nice and has that warm Scottish feel. We stayed in room 229 and we would advise anyone given this room to immediately ask for another for the following reasons -
1. it is beside the lift and stair well so very prone to noise late in the evening and early morning,
2. the outlook is to back of the hotel car park
3. the room was clean there was black/green mold on the window frame and in the bathroom (not something the cleaners can do much about).
4. The room is dated and needs a complete refurbishment.
We ate the hotel believing it would be a great experience however found the menu limited (veggies watch out!) and to our dissappointment that some options were not available as well as the rose wine. The dishes we ordered were fine but not worth the £33 each we were charged. If the dinner dance is on bring a set of ear plugs because you'll need them! The only real plus point about the hotel was the spa club.
All in all I couldn't reccommend this hotel to anyone. Find an alterative and spend your money more wisely otherwise you may find it will all end in dissappointment. Come on Hilton do this hotel justice and give it the refurb it so badly needs.

My wife and I have just returned from a three day Easter break at the Hilton Dunkeld. I should state that this is only the third time that we have stayed at this hotel since it transferred to Hilton ownership. We were however, regular visitors to this hotel when it was under Stakis ownership and we were more than satisfied with the overall standards and the high level of service then.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the new owners, Hilton. The majority of the staff is of eastern European origin, and although friendly enough they do not go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable; instead they go about their job in a competent efficient manner. They also do not engage in conversation with the guests nor do they offer tips on what to see/visit in the local area as they themselves are not local to the area.
Upon arrival we were upgraded to Athol Suite, which IMO was a downgrade from the executive room that we had requested at point of booking. The Athol Suite is very, very tired, dirty, inadequately heated and the bathroom provides the mere basics to what one would expect from such a hotel.
Don’t get me wrong, the hotel grounds are just as spectacular as they have always been, though the dove house has gone the same way as the Athol Suite, severely neglected over the years and a mere shadow of is former glory.
The food, as many have pointed out, is mediocre at best. The dinner menu does not change on a daily basis, so if you are there for a lengthy stay, beware. You can eat better elsewhere in Dunkeld and at a much more reasonable price than at the Hilton.
Overall, we were not impressed with this hotel under the ownership of the Hilton brand and feel that it has lost all of its previous character, which is a shame; A three star establishment at best.

My Husband, myself and my 7 year old Daughter went to the Hilton Dunkeld for a weekend break for 2 nights DBB. The hotel cancelled us on our 1st night as they double booked us.We were transferred to another local hotel for the 1st night which turned out to be lovely and much preferred to our 2nd night at the Hilton Dunkeld. We had a delux double room which meant you couldn't swing a cat as the sofa bed was pulled down into a single bed for my Daughter. The balcony was well rusty with no outside furniture, therefore,it was non functional.Food was nice and tasty.
Most of the staff ignored you with the exception of a few.
The hotel itself went like a fair with a constant strem of groups of people-very,very busy and not very relaxing at all.
Would not go back as we enjoy relaxing, luxurious breaks away and this certainly wasn't one.

My wife and I have been enjoying the surroundings, the service and the cuisine at the Hilton Dunkeld for the past 10 years. We visited with friends on 15 August 2007 and we were so disappointed and embarrassed by what we experienced during our visit that we are now unlikely to return.
The price of alcoholic drinks at the bar had risen to £6.50 for a 175ml glass of Chardonnay and £4.50 for a pint of lager. A half bottle of table wine at dinner was £17.00.
We had to point to the Stella Artois pump for one of the bar staff as his command of the English language was inadequate.
A group of four waitresses were talking in the restaurant during breakfast. I attracted the attention of one to ask for another jug of milk but she looked away and continued her conversation for at least 3 minutes before responding.
We saw a family sit down at one of the patio tables for lunch and watched as a waitress served bread rolls. The family informed her they needed to get something from their car but would be back shortly to order. In their absence, three birds landed on their on their table and proceeded to peck at the bread rolls as the waitress watched. The family returned, ordered and proceeded to eat the bread rolls. The waitress watched and said nothing. A photo is attached.
I have complained twice to Hilton Hotels about these points. They acknowledged the criticism about their bar prices and maintain they are competitive but they have ignored everything else.
This used to be a superb hotel but standards have fallen and my family and I will looking to stay elsewhere in future. I would suggest anyone else reading this does the same.
