“Not a good experience”

Chatsworth

27 Apr 2008

Food - The food wasn't anything special - typical of mass production and slightly pricey for the quality and quantity.

Room - the usual attempt to update an older building.

Bathroom - first night one was not great and rubbish shower over bath, second night shower enclosure was much better.

Staff - most were polite and efficient. (see below)

Location - central to Worthing and very close to seafront.

When booking I asked for a quiet room as I always do - It turned out to be the noisiest room I have stayed in yet!

The hotel isn't very well soundproofed so I could hear all the talking, laughing and footsteps of everyone that came upstairs or from the lift and along the narrow corridor.
The room was next to the lift plus some kind of cooler or genarator which created a constant droning sound.
My room was hot but I couldn't open the windows due to there being a flat roof outside with a huge, noisy vent on it....

I rang reception at 9.30pm to express my dissatisfaction but was told they were fully booked (due to 2 coach parties of retired folk) and couldn't move me. I was moved the next night having stressed that I would check out to avoid staying in the same room any longer.

I was still charged the full amount and was ignored by the ignorant girl on reception when I queried it. I hasten to add that the rest of the staff I encountered were all polite and courteous.

The food wasn't anything special - typical of mass production and slightly pricey for the quality and quantity.

On the whole my stay was dissapointing and not as good as I had hoped for.

Stayed here for 2 nights on business.
Arrived and checked in with no fuss. Decor of the hotel once you're past reception is a little dated but clean and tidy.

Had a room on the 3rd Floor and was immaculate and well laid out. Small TV but had plenty of channels, good amount of tea and coffee and had a nice view of Steyne Gardens and the sea.
Bathroom was an ok size but at 6ft I couldn't stand in the bath and have a shower without crouching down and holding the shower head above me due to the low ceiling

The building is also Grade 2 listed and therefore only has secondary glazing and the local boy-racers kept us awake on the 1st night (the rooms across the corridor had the bus station to contend with in the early mornings)

Breakfast was great and the service and staff were wonderful

Stayed in a twin room on second floor looking out on a garage at the back of the hotel.

Room Ok , clean, pleasant in a dated way. Could do with reno to make it more modern....i.e. instead of blankets , update with duvets. There was a radiator in the room, but was stone cold and was no control in the room to put any type of heating on. Got chilly in the evening. Bathtub was very deep and hard to get in and out of . There is a partial glass door in the tub which allows you to shower, but water pressure is low. Had trouble flushing the toilet, had to keep double flushing!!

The staff where helpful. Breakfast was very very good! The staff at breakfast couldnt do enough in arranging a tray for my daughter who didnt feel well enough to come down for breakfast .

Overall, good location, in the town centre and right beside the sea. Would stay in the hotel again as I got an excellent rate which included breakfast, but would hope they upgrade the bathrooms in particular.

“Excellent”

Just come back from a 2 night stay, booked a back facing room as it was cheaper but put a note in the booking requesting sea view and got one! Lovely room overlooking the Steyne Gardens and seafront. Rooms comfortabley furnished with TV, aircon, tea/coffee facilities, lovely powerful shower, beautifully displayed towels left on the beds, immaculately clean. Breakfast was of good quality, with help yourself to cold buffett and served by waitress(Lucia was excellent) hot food, toast and tea/coffee. Nice library and games room with free internet acess, bar prices excellent and very cheap for a hotel, two alcoholic drinks and a soft drink less than £6! Good location by the seafront just a few minuntes from the seafront theatre and shops, all buses within a few steps from the hotel. Would recommend the hotel and the Seafood Brasserie next door for wonderful food. Well done Chatsworth!

Located almost on the sea front at Worthing and just a short walk from the shopping centre. Hotel is very nice and clean and staff very friendly. The only down side to this hotel is the pillows in the bedrooms are like rocks so take your own if you can.
