“Safe pair of hands”

The Beach Hotel

12 Mar 2008

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Beach Hotel that included a weekend stop over. I had to book the Hotel at short notice and I hadn"t visited the area before which left me wondering if I would end up in a local Fawlty Towers. Nothing could have been further from the truth - the service was good and the Hotel was very clean and tidy with a reasonable standard of decor throughout.
I paid an extra £10 per night for a sea view which meant I had an excellent view of the Channel storms and the shipwrecked timber that was being removed by heavy plant equipment each day, however, the double glazing prevented any disturbances from the workings directly outside the Hotel. The place was popular with the over 70"s so don"t expect a party astmosphere in the bar area but I have to say that the facilities in the restaurant and bar are adequate and the prices are reasonable. Breakfast was good but make sure you make it very clear to the polish waitresses what you want,my order for beans on toast resulted in one small slice of toast with a handful of beans on it with the rest of the order missed off ! A small gripe I put down to translation difficulties. The reception staff were very helpful all be it the night porter gives the impression that he would rather be at home in bed than help with guest enquiries. I would recommend the Hotel if you need to stay in the Worthing area for a few nights.

The hotel met all our expectations. Our twin room with sea views was spotlesly clean. Tastfully decorated warm and comfortable.
The staff were friendly and the service was good. The free parking is a also a big asset to the Beach in an town with pay and display everywhere. The breakfast was very good but we did not have the opportunity to sample the food at the restaurant.
My wife and I are well travelled and experienced in staying at hotels in the uk and overseas preferably at the top end, the Beach we would rate as comfotable clean with friendly staff .
We shall be booking again when we come to see our relatives in Worthing.

“Excellent hotel with real charecter”

The Beach Hotel

6 Oct 2007

I recently stayed at this hotel in a group of 60 people.

The staff could really not do enough for us.

The food was excellent and the service outstanding.

I have stayed in this hotel before and I must say that this occasion was better than ever.

Linda and Jonathan who run the hotel do an excellent job and you would be hard pushed to find a hotel in this location, with these amenities, with such excellent, friendly service at such a reasonable price!

The rooms are nice and comfortable and were immaculate.

Overall the hotel had charecter, which is more than could be said for a lot of hotels that I have stayed in.

We will definately be using the Beach Hotel for our functions again and it was well worth the drive down there!

Thanks for making our time so special!

This hotel is a grotty dump with eastren european staff and filth everywhere fourteen of our party of over fifty that stayed two nights suffered vomiting and headcramps and yes it was brought to the managments attention, for the price the food was below average which we found out later had been sitting on a hot plate for hours, much better value and cleaner surroundings can be found at many other hotels in the area.this hotel should be called THE DUMP not THE Beach

We also stayed at The Beach on 2 December when there was a very noisy wedding reception going on. We had not been told about it either, I suspect this was because we were only staying for 1 night. This has happened to us before in other hotels with varying degrees of noise going on throughout the night - something you need to be aware of if you stay over on a Saturday night.

We were down to see Paul Weller play at Brighton and were unable to find a hotel for just the one night so booked in at the Beach and took a taxi across. This meant we arrived back at 11.30 p.m. to find the hotel locked and no-one to let us in. The noise was very loud indeed. The porter did eventually arrive and opened the decrepit old door - needs replacing - but said he had been on the phone. Not good enough really. The noise went on until 1 a.m., we were right above the disco but for us it wasn't worth the hassle of moving.

As for The Beach, location is very good, public rooms smart, receptionist pleasant, cooked breakfast fine. Downside - rooms a bit tatty, peeling paint on radiator, furniture very tired. We will probably go back to Brighton for 2 nights next time - most hotels only accept 2 night bookings at the weekend - and have to pay the extra.
