I stayed here in September 06 on business. The first thing I noticed was a dank smell in the hallway and stairs which persisted throughout the time I was there. The receptionist was friendly enough, if a little off-hand.
After climbing the steep stairs to my room on the top floor, I must admit I was fairly pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, clean and well-appointed, with good sea-views. It needed decorating, but not badly.
Breakfast was disappointing - I couldn't eat the scrambled eggs I was served, and they tasted as if made from powdered egg. They'd certainly come from a microwave. The coffee was fairly tasteless. So I gave up on breakfasts for the rest of my stay.
A couple of requests I made to the recptionist were handled very helpfully.
So it was a mixed experience: a nice room and friendly staff, let down by poor breakfast and dingy and dank corridors and stairways.
With some money spent on it, this could be a much better place to stay. As it is, I wouldn't go again unless there was no alternative.

A very tired hotel, dirty carpet in bedroom and quilt. Curtains torn. Bathroom needed good clean. For money paid could have been in a travel Inn. Some foreign guests, hope they don't think all our hotels are like this one. Breakfast fine, staff fine, but do something to this lovely old building.

Our reception at this hotel was absolutely awful. The reception staff attitude was appalling to the extent that we decided not to stay but went instead to the hotel next door.

stayed here for a saturday night, when i had a quick weekend away with my wife.
the room we were given was nice, plenty of space.
bearing in mind its an old building, it was fine. we did not have dinner in the hotel so cannot comment, but the breakfast on sunday was great. cooked to order, hot and fresh, unlike a lot of hotels today who seem to prepare all in advance.
I was very suprised to find a 2* hotel with free wireless access
if i was to travel to worthing on business would stay here, the bar was pleasent, somewhere calm to have a nice beer, away from all the theme pubs in the town centre.
