“Weybridge visitor”

Oatlands Park Hotel

5 Dec 2007

Very unimpressed. As the car pulled up to the hotel, it seemed like it would be a nice place. However, the lobby was not an indication for the hotel. My room was all the way in the back. By the way, for any prospective visitors who have trouble with stairs, there is no elevator and a lot walking to get to your rooms. The corridors have fading paint jobs and cracks. It was reminiscent of the Stephen King classic, The Shining.
The room smelled damp and had cracks all over. It looked like a hostel room. The picture given on the site for the rooms is not a good indication. Now, to the services, you are supposed to get free broadband service in your room, but the service did not work, they should take money off your bill for that.

With regards to food, there is very little to eat at the hotel, and frankly the fare is not so good or ridiculously over-priced. There are no vending macines to get something to drink. Even five star hotels have vending machines, it doesn't class down the facility at all. That is something they need. Furthermore, if you want to go and eat, you must walk at least ten minutes to get to the town centre. While ten minutes is not a problem for young people, the uneven and cracked roads, weird traffic patterns, and sloping streets, may make it difficult for less mobile guests of Weybridge. Additionally, unlike almost every hotel, and B&B, they don't have a listing of local restaurants or numbers to have food delivered; they don't even have hotel recommended restaurants.

With regards to the scenery, it's very nice, right on a golf course, but if you're only there for a night and get there when it's dark already, it's not something you really pay attention to or care about.

On the following morning, I was waiting for a car to take me for an interview. There were a number of others out there as well. Although we had all booked the cars with plenty of time to spare to get to our destinations, the taxis were supposedly stuck in traffic. But from what we could see, there was no traffic. When we asked the front desk to help us, they made calls to the company, but were not emphatic about getting the taxis here; frankly it seemed to be an inconvenience them to make the calls. Some people may have missed their appointments, and the hotel should share some responsibility as they recommended the times for taxis. The front desk, while helpful when you first check in, becomes less and less helpful and more irritable as your stay progresses.

Suffice to say, it's back away from things, on the golf course, but honestly, it's not worth the price, and is severely lacking in facilities expected in a supposedly luxurious hotel. Needs a lot of repair work. Would not stay there again.

“post wedding dissapointment”

Oatlands Park Hotel

We booked into the hotel for an overnight stay as our friends were getting married locally. The reservation was made on the phone with friendly helpful people. The place has a beautiful setting however the rooms are a gamble some guests had lovely rooms others were quite shabby and small and one non smoking room stank. The hotel reception staff we met during our stay were so unfriendly and unhelpful it was funny only because we had a hangover. My husband had left his jacket in the bar and they couldn't care less. Some things at a hotel cost money but polite and friendly service you should expect everywhere and to everyone, this was unacceptable.

I've stayed at this hotel twice, and had two totally different experiences. On my first stay, I had a very nice double room with en-suite bathroom and couldn't fault anything. My second dtay was somewhat different; a small single room (OK, it was booked through my company but all the same....), and my credit card was charged by the hotel as they said they hadn't received prior payment for the rooms that my colleagues and I had had booked - the staff were also unwilling to look into the reservation until the following Monday morning (some 36 hours after we were due to leave).

Would I recommend this hotel? On the basis of my first visit yes. If they've still got the staff I encounterd on my second visit, no....

“Great value at the Oatlands Park Hotel”

Oatlands Park Hotel

Our family group(husband,me and two children 11 and 13) had a very enjoyable long weekend at Oatlands. The site itself is steeped in history and as my daughter is studying the Tudors at school, it really brought it alive for her.
We had a really friendly welcome at Reception and they had booked us in to interconnecting rooms which were beautifully appointed, looking out over their parkland grounds.
The staff, although busy, took the time to chat to the children and suggest places of interest along with the obligatory Thorpe Park visit!
I loved their fabulous restaurant with the high ceilings and view to the lake. The food was excellent, too. The homemade ice-cream was everyones favourite.I think you can judge a hotel on the quality of their afternoon tea and this was fantastic- homemade scones to die for and my son loved the freshly made eclairs.
Dinner, too, was beautifully presented with good portion sizes.
There was plenty to do and see within a short drive and our stroll around Wisley Gardens and a session of feeding the ducks was great!
Both my husband and I frequently stay in hotels as part of our business life and we felt that Oatlands Park offered great value for money.
I would definitely recommend a stay-you'll have a lovely time!

“A touch of class!!”

Oatlands Park Hotel

My partner and i enjoyed a wonferful weekend stay at Oatlands Park Hotel and had the most amazing time.

The bedroom was wonderful- a beautiful four poster bed in a spacious and wonderfully decorated room - and the views, well what can i say - overloking the lake and the grounds was the perfect finishing touch. The room was clean, tidy and all the information we needed was easly at hand with their guest directory.

We enjoyed dinner on both evenings in their Broadwater Restaurant and was overwhelmed by not only the friendly and efficient service, but also the choice on offer at such reasonable prices - and the food was exemplary !

We chose Oatlands Park for the location as we managed to visit lots of local attractions in the short time we were there - including Hampton Court Palace, Wisley gardens and even had a day out at Thorpe Park - all of which were less than 1/2 hour away.

I would have absolutely no hesitatation in recommending Oatlands Park Hotel to anyone - in fact would even say that a four star rating doesnt do it justice!!
