We stayed at the Threshold over a very windy weekend in January and found it to be comfortable and welcoming. The rooms and bathrooms are extremely clean and the breakfast is excellent!
Threshold came highly recommended by our daughter and her husband, and we were certainly not disappointed. Set in green fields above Salcombe, but only 10 minutes (walking) from the harbour, Threshold was quiet, peaceful and very comfortable. Nola and Brian were excellent hosts, anticipating our needs, feeding us satisfying breakfasts and generally making us feel very much at home. As well as looking after their guests, Nola and Brian foster 'Scrumpy Jack', an old 'Dulux' dog, who is both blind and deaf, and is as quiet and gentle a dog as you would wish to meet.
Brian and Nola run a fantastic B&B, friendly and absolutely spotless. I have stayed in many B&B’s over the years but none as immaculate as this. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast magnificent. Brian will even pick guests up in town after a night out.
The view over the valley from the patio is beautiful and very relaxing.

Brian and Nola Bayliss from the Threshold Bed and Breakfast in Salcombe gave us a lovely warm welcome - my parents were very shy but they discreetly offered us all sorts of herbal tea, most welcome after our long drive. The aromatherapy facilities for the steam room were excellent fun! My parents slept very well on the water bed. All the rooms were clean and comfortable and furnished to a very high standard (including the bathrooms!) and the view from the sunlit living room over the rolling hills was magnificent! It was a pleasure to meet the Bayliss's deaf and blind Old English Sheepdog, who was very well-behaved and gentle. A particularly thoughtful touch was the provision of a jug of fresh drinking water at night. A sense of peace filled the house, which was thoughtfully and tastefully decorated.
Salcombe is a lovely place, the view across the harbour with the fishing boats on the esturary and the green hills dotted with cows in the backdrop was completely idyllic- I have never seen anything so beautiful- and I have been to the Lake District!
Badgers are to be viewed from the living room window at approximately 11pm, all sorts of British birds come to the bird feeders on the porch, and a little amble down to the beach takes only 10 minutes.
