We have stayed at Passford House four times and always have had a fantastic break come rain or shine. We have always found the staff friendly and flexible: nothing is too much trouble. There's a good mix of guests - old, young and families. It feels like a treat but isn't too stuffy. The rooms are a bit dated - if you want boutique go elsewhere - but to me that's part of the charm. The silver-plated teapots burn your hand when you use them, but so what, who cares, that's the sort of place it is. If you want an old-fashioned place in a lovely setting, with decent food too, this is your hotel. It's the sort of hotel that Basil Fawlty would really love to own. It's that good.

husband had been here 25 years ago so unsure what to expect
although the decor is a little l980's the hotel and facilities are
very comfortable. staff very accommodating and restaurant, again a bit dated, but the food excellent.
Ideal situation for visiting the New Forest and south coastline.
Loads to do in the area. Also plenty to do at hotel. Putting, croquet, sauna
Indoor and outdoor pool, games room tennis lots of loungers and sun beds and eating areas outside.
Beautiful well kept grounds and gardens.
Small well behaved dogs allowed too!
Only one oddity, bar men do not know what Armagnac is
said they had none, next morning we spotted a half filled bottle on the top shelf !! Obviously training is still being given.
Nonetheless would recommend it, we are going back quite soon for a short break, before all the leaves disappear in the forest.

Just returned from a great two night stay at Passford House.
Not sure where the previous reviewer stayed but it didn't reflect our experience. The hotel staff were very welcoming from the time we arrived until we left.
The room we had was superb, the grounds are fabulous (9 acres) tennis court, outdoor pool (obviously not in use at this time of year), smallish but nice indoor pool, gym, pool/table tennis tables.
The biggest surpise was the restaurant. The food was fabulous, cooked to perfection and very posh! The staff wait on you constantly and the front of house man (who is Liverpudlian) was great, as were all the waiting staff. We felt like royalty. We had no problems with service. Very clean hotel.

This is at best a 3 star hotel, but it is charging 5 star prices (we paid £270 per night). Our principal double room was large and clean, but the bed very uncomfortable, and there was a constant electrical buzz that kept us awake most of the night. The service was comical, whilst the staff were making an effort, they were clueless. We waited 40 mins for a drink, after spending 20 mins trying to find a barman (despite asking reception 4 times), and a couple next to us spent 30 mins chasing their post-meal coffee. Having arrived at 9:10pm on a Friday evening we were informed we could not get hot food as the chef had gone home. We managed to get some cold food, including a desert which was clearly straight from the a supermarket frozen food section. Dirty dishes were left on most of the tables in the bar and lounge, and there were daddy-long legs everywhere. The carpets and walls are in need of updating. The grounds are large, but not in great condition. Breakfast was fine, but the dining room is like an old people's home. I won't be staying here again.
