The Dryfesdale can best be described as batting above its station. To charge £100 a night for the pleasure of staying in a hotel that sits by the side of a motorway is ridiculous. We were put in room 11 that just so happens to be located next to the function room and opposite the fire exit used by staff to plod around the hotel. We were woken at 5am on Saturday morning by the sound of someone literally smashing crockery over the other side of the fire exit and then at 8am on Sunday by hoovering and children running along the corridors. As spotted on another post, the bathrooms are reminscent of something out of the 70's with a scolding hot shower that didnt manage to get above a dribble. Thank God we were at an external wedding on the Saturday night and returned to the Dryfesdale very late as otherwise we would have been forced to sit through the whole event occuring in the next door function room that we had been warned would go on until 12.30. It didnt even occur to the manager when he was explaining this to us that perhaps we didnt want to partake in the celebration of two randoms. We then opened our curtains onto the patio the next morning to find the table and chairs had been used by wedding guests as a makeshift smoking area and fag butts littered the area. Down to breakfast where a member of staff, literally with his shirt soaked in sweat all over served us without any notion of anything being wrong. Finally to check out, where surprise surprise, the manager tried to over charge not only us but the other couple we were travelling with and another couple in front of us. The hotel proudly show off a book of favourable comments left by guests at reception which we concluded they must write themselves
