Stayed for 2 nights early September, and could not fault either the property or its owner, Trevor.
He proved to be a friendly and helpful host, and the guest house was a level above any that I could imagine of this type.
Breakfast was vast and fresh, and the staff were keen to do whatever it took to please. We enjoyed dinner on our first night in the restaurant, and enjoyed exceptionally good Thai cuisine at ridiculously low prices.
Trevor also operates an "honesty bar", to allow residents to use their own key and help themselves to alcoholic or soft drinks, and settle up at departure -- great idea !
Only complaint from our stay is that we were there for business and did not see enough of the island, but when we return with the kids I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Not a place I would recommend. Manager extremely rude. Very unhelpful about providing early breakfast on day of departure to the extent no breakfast was supplied –not even a piece of toast. Note first departure to Edinburgh from Sumburgh airport about 07:30 and airport is about an hour’s drive from Lerwick. Room very small and overheated – stayed in middle of summer – heating was on. Very uncomfortable bed; extremely hard not help by electric blanket control stuffed under mattress.

Stayed here late Jan/early Feb 09. A barren place. The room was cold and pretty shabby. The breakfast area was cavernous with no atmosphere and when trying to check out to be in time for a meeting, we got a tediously long tale about the costs of credit cards to the proprietor. Given his machine mysteriously died when trying to pay, even opting to use cash couldn't speed things up. I will not be re-visiting

the rooms were just about o.k. as was the breakfast, although the quality of sausage was poor. Manager/proptietor had a bad attitude and was quite chauvinistic.
Evening meal, on the night we stayed in, was dreadful!! We had warm rose wine which the Thai waitress could not undestand was the wrong way to serve it, and asked if we wanted "some ice". When the starters came, after about half an hour, they were, initially, wrong, and then when it was provided correctly, two of them(we were 4) were cold.
We then waited for another 45 minutes for our main course. For most of this time, the proprietor was sitting with some friends who had entered the restaurant after us( by about 20 mins) and were served before us.
He must have known that we wer getting poor service, but did not come over. There were never more than 8 people to be served during the time we were in the restaurant.
On checking out, the proprietor was standing at the back of reception, and did not ask if we had had a good stay!

Although this guest house sounds very Scottish it is all about Thailand. The decor reflects the strong Thai influence but the room was clean- crisp white sheets, and spacious. I had shampoo and soap provided and lots of towels- they were a wee bit smelly but not too bad. The shower was dated with a full screen but it did the job. The restaurant served only Thai food, which was OK, but the breakfast was very varied and catered for all tastes, from a wide variety of fresh fruit, through to cereal, onto the full monty cooked breakfast. Portions were generous. Staff were very friendly, smiley and helpful. It's located in the town so views aren't that great but it's within easy walking distance of the town and the harbour- uphill all the way home though.
