I had to stay at this hotel in March/April 2008 on a business trip as my company is located just around the corner. Coming to the UK I was prepared for the worst as far as hotels are concerned and being so pessimistic turned out to be o.k. as I got what I expected.
As usual, all buildings look great from the outside in the UK and even the lobby and the reception area look quite posh. However, as soon as you get into your room, this is all over.
O.K., I have to say that the rooms are extremly clean, but that is the only positive thing to be pointed out. The rooms are so tiny that in week 1 there was not even space for my suitcase and I had to leave it by the door resulting in the fact that the door could no longer be opened completely.
Apart from this, the windows are not tight so that there is a contstant draft in the room which can be extremly unpleasant in spring.
The bathroom and the shower were also absolutely small and I will never understand why there are always two faucets (one for cold water and one for warm water) in English hotels...
The reception, bar and restaurant staff for some reason is pretty young which makes a positive impression, however, one could get the feeling that the complete hotel staff only comprises apprentices and trainees as they are acting very inexperienced and unconfident all the time. When I returned in week 2 of my business trip, the reception desk girl repeated the same standard phrase again and explained in detail where to find the bar etc. although I had already told her that I knew all this. Also, incompetence is omnipresent as reception desk staff was unable to provide me with the hotel's phone no. so that I could receive a call from outside in my room! Only after asking 5 times (and apparently getting 5 different numbers) I was successful!
To sum it all up, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere and if you don't have a car you are completely stranded, as (for whatever reason) it also seems to be almost impossible to get a taxi there... Also, you can literally leave your cellphone at home as there is hardly a network in the hotel area.
At an unreasonably high rate, this appears to be almost comical.
Next time I am in this area, I will rather stay at a bed and breakfast, but Savill Court, never again!

“Absolutely fantastic experience!!”

Savill Court Hotel

13 Apr 2008

I recently stayed at the Savill court Hotel with my partner and both of use thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. After deciding to take a break from our hectic schedules we decided to see the countryside. The staff at the front desk were very welcoming and efficient. We got a lovely and comfortable room in the garden wing of the hotel.Even though there seemed to be rush due to a conference in the hotel, we were very attentively handled by the reception staff.
We decided to dine in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent.
The pool in the spa is lovely and relaxing.Overall I would definately rate this hotel high and recommend to my friends.

We chose Savill Court randomly for a romantic weekend break. There was a big wedding taking place the friday afternoon we arrived and to be honest we did feel like we were gate-crashing the reception as they take over the garden patio. But we didn't let them upset our weekend and were even offered a glass of champagne.
our room was quite small, and very warm, with quite a small window, but a nice view over the gardens. It was clean and well decorated though and the bathroom was also clean.
We took our own champagne but could not fit it in the mini bar as it was very small.
The evening meal was very, very good (excellent variety of homemade breads i remember!). After the meal the bar had again been taken over by wedding guests and we had to sit at the bar as all comfy sofas were full. Actually this was quiet nice as we're pretty socialable and ended up joining in, but for anyone looking for privacy this woudl have been annoying.
Hotel pool was not that impressive and felt quite clastrophobic, as it is underground. I couldn't book any treatments, so would recommend booking in advance.
All in all we had a great weekend, visiting windsor town and the park, and walking to a local pub for the meal on the second evening.
We would return again in the future.

“Clean but service terrible, expensive, lifts & jacuzzi out of order.”

I have just stayed at Savill Court with a group of friends for a birthday celebration. The Hotel is in a lovely setting but problems surface when you get inside. We all checked in and went to our rooms only to find that we had not been given the correct grade room for the price paid. This took time to sort out and we then had to move our luggage to correct room. The rooms are small but spotless which is the most important thing. In the restaurant the group waited one and a quarter hours before we got our starters. Three then had to be returned as the duck starters had one piece of duck! One main course was returned as it was cold and one sweet had hair on it. The restaurant manager was very apologetic for the service. The food is expensive and you would expect better than this for the money. Basically even though the restaurant was far from full they couldn't cope. If you order refreshments in the lounge etc beware very expensive! I had booked a treatment in the spa,on arrival there was nobody on reception for 20 mins. Eventually my treatment began 45 mins late and I missed part of the birthday celebration. The Jacuzzi was out of order as were some lifts. Service again was slow at breakfast but the selection and quality of food was good. To recap the hotel is clean but service is terrible, food very expensive.
