I stayed at Savill Court last week for 3 days for a business meeting. The hotel is very attractive - following a lot of refurbishment in the last few years. Rooms are well equipped -but not overly large. Choose a double rather than single if you can - the singles are pretty cramped and don't have a bath - just walk in shower (double has both).
Wireless access is available in meeting rooms - but at £10 per day via T-mobile (similar to what you'd do at the airport). LAN access is available in all rooms for free - but connectivity does not appear to be perfect throughout - and the hotel won't have enough LAN cables if there is more than one business meeting taking place (which was our experience).
The breakfast service was pretty poor - most people were not fed quickly. They'd do better to have a hot buffet available as well as the (ok but nothing really special) cold buffet. My porridge was served cold first time around and then was hot - but clearly done so in the microwave. The cooked breakfasts looked better.
Lunch is buffet style - hot and cold - and fine - though our tomato and mozzarella salad on the first day was not made with proper mozzarella but rather that plastic yellow stuff they grate over pizzas.
Most staff seemed only to have been there a short while - and were mostly foreign - but that's typical of most hotels where pay is probably too low to attract anyone other than foreign workers. This did mean that service was sporadically bad - though I'd give then a 'A' for effort most of the time.
We had a few teething problems with our meeting - but they were resolved quickly. I made comments about the food and the food was improved - enormously. Our second evening meal was hugely better than the first - with good selection of bread, good wines, well prepared steaks, not bad veg and a good cheese board. If you make (constructive) comments then you will see improvements. The irish C&B manager is new - but will be making improvements. While we were there, IBM and BP were among other companies using the venue. The meeting rooms with natural daylight look good - and I'd reccommend the hotel for business meetings.
I assume that at the weekend the business visitors go away and the hotel will be a good place for a weekend for couples perhaps. It's very close to Savill Garden - which is a beautiful garden near Egham and with easy reach of Windsor - so people looking to stay close to Windsor would be well suited to staying here (though there are hotels in Windsor too).
All in all - a good experience following teething problems. Thanks to all at the hotel for helping with a successful event.
