FUN, FRIENDLY & FABULOUS.
This hotel will always be a huge favourite of mine when i need to stay in norfolk on business.
I am completley shocked at the other review here, saying "Think Twice before you stay"! I think this person must have got this hotel confused with another, as i definatley did not have the same experience.
The Hotel is well presented, clean , warm and with a friendly and cheerful environment. The George has a superb lounge for relaxing with the paper, tea or coffee and very comfortable for chatting with friends.
The rooms have everything you need and are nicley decorated.
All the meals i had during my stay were very enjoyable & fresh and the menu offers an excellent choice.
I highly recommend anyone visiting norfolk to stay at The George in Dereham, it is central to everything you need and a lovely place to stay.

I have stayed here several times over the summer and autumn.

The place is very friendly and the rooms have everything you need. The food and the bar is very good and offers good value for money.

If you want the ritz this iss not for you but if you want a good room, friendly service with out frills this will do you fine.

Much better than all those faceless, characterless group places.

The Nomad

This hotel is advertised as a 2 star and it is easy to see why. While our room was spacious it was dated and while I have stayed in dirtier rooms this one won't be winning any more stars for its overall level of cleanliness. The room was kitted out with all that you would need such as a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and even an old trouser press (do people still use these), but the main complaint with these would be that the TV was a very small old portable one and when lying in bed it was some distance away and you almost had to squint to make out the programme. Another problem was that the bed was positioned in front of the window which was only single glazed and with Dereham being a little off the beaten track, and it would seem with no speed limits being followed or enforced, the repetitive noise of the traffic whizzing past at all hours of the night is enough to keep you awake long after the pub has closed at midnight (no chance of sleeping before this time either).
I would like to say that the breakfast redeemed itself and having opted for the full-English I had high hopes but sadly was again disappointed as the toast arrived burnt to a crisp and cold, the bacon was barely cooked and everything was swimming in grease, needless to stay that I decided to skip breakfast the next morning. There seems to be a lack of good quality accommodation in this town so I would recommend staying elsewhere if possible, Norwich I'm sure will have plenty on offer - this is certainly one to avoid.
