We stayed at the Cottage Lodge for a weekend at the end of February. We had a great time and the staff were really friendly and welcoming with lots of special touches and helpful hints on how to get the best out of the local area. All of which made for a really lovely weekend. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay in this well looked after and comfortable B&B.

My husband and I stayed for two nights at the Cottage Lodge at the end of November and could not have chosen a nicer B and B in Brockenhurst. Upon arrival we were greeted in The Snug Room with coffee and cake and where we found maps for cycling, walking etc, and also details of restaurants/pubs nearby. We had booked the King William Suite and were so glad we did as this was a beautiful clean room with plenty of space. The breakfasts were delicious, and set us up for our walks. As we had come by train, we decided to hire our cycles, and there are two cycle hire shops within close proximity. There are also stables nearby and we thoroughly enjoyed our horse riding for 'beginners!' at one of the stables.

This was our first visit to Brockenhurst, New Forest, and will not be our last. A big thank you to Christina and her team.

This was our first trip the New Forest - we could not have found a better place to stay. The standard of accommodation that Christina and her team provide at Cottage Lodge is second to none.

Brockenhurst also seemed to be perfect place to stay, with 12 pubs and restaurants within a five minute walk of the accommodation, plenty of village shops for fruit and sandwiches for picnics, without any of the usual tacky tourist shops. As an added bonus there are occasionally New Forest ponies wandering through the centre of the village. This is charming during the daytime but when walking back from the pub through the dimly lit streets they can come as quite a surprise!

I have often read in Trip Advisor reviews that the photo’s on a web site do not do justice to the accommodation and in the case of our room, the Wilverly, that is certainly the case. It is in the modern part of the building but its low ceiling and rustic wooden bathroom and wardrobe doors help to give it an old fashioned charm. Added to this are modern touches of luxury – a spacious bathroom with a wet room shower area, a large screen TV with DVD player and an enormous bed.

Since we booked the accommodation, wifi internet connection for guests had been added to some of the rooms, which was not mentioned on the web site. The signal in our room was weak but the ‘Snug’ lounge and breakfast room had good connections which were very useful.

The Snug also provides other nice touches which make Cottage Lodge special. These include fresh milk for tea and coffee and a seemingly endless supply of delicious free cake.

Restaurant menus and reviews by previous guests are available in the Snug which suggest the best places to eat in and around the village. This is just one of many little extra’s that the Cottage Lodge provide to enhance the stay of their guests.

We highly recommend a stay here and particularly in the Wilverly room if it is available.

We spent a enjoyable night in the Exbury superior room, extremely comfortable, peaceful and cosy. Unfortunately it was a bit cold and damp for us to fully appreciate the balcony that comes with this particular room on this visit...but maybe next time! The hotels website mentioned that the room faced onto the road, but its a really quiet road (midweek anyway) and we didnt hear a peep. We did spot a few ponies on the green across the road though, a welcome sight!
The breakfast was delicious, and was made up of lots of locally sourced ingredients, which Im sure made it taste even better. Lots of handy info available in the cosy snug about local eateries...a word of warning though, we had a cream tea at the Buttery nearby and the scones were so huge we didnt need dinner!
Id recommend this B&B to anyone, and Cottage Lodge's eco-efforts are also to be commended. Its an old building, so its never going to be the most energy efficient place, but they have taken lots of steps to make a difference, and the local food, soaps etc are excellent.

I am a frequent stayer at bed and breakfasts, whenever I am on business travel around and am always looking for somewhere with character, run in a professional but friendly way, by people with an eye for detail, a passion for cleanliness and an understanding of comfort. These guys have got all the above and more. The location's great, easy to find and close the pubs and restaurants in the centre. The building's full of character but everythings in good condition and clean. From the time of booking to the moment I realised I had left my washbag (and was 300 miles away) they were friendly, professional and did everything to look after me superbly (including sending my washbag home at no charge and preparing a special breakfast for my early departure). Everything was as you want. If they had been able to provide sunshine it would of been 11/10 but they'll have to settle for the perfect 10.
