The Cottage Lodge is the most welcoming place I have ever stayed and when I next visit the New Forest I will be staying here and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it to anyone else.

The whole idea behind the Cottage Lodge is to provide a very friendly, comfortable and homely experience... and it works fantastically well.

Cottage Lodge has no reception, instead when you check in you are lead through to the 'snug' lounge area were you are pointed towards the bottomless supply of free cake and are made tea/coffee whilst the staff explain a little about the hotel etc before taking you through to your room once you finish your drinks.

The snug is a hive of information and also has an honesty bar stocked with drinks all sourced from the South Coast. It also provides a nice environment for sparking up conversations with other guests - I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere before were guests talked to each other so much... and that's all down to how immediately comfortable you are made.

The cooked breakfast was made up entirely of local produce, and my only criticism was that it was a little on the small side... but it was delicious nonetheless and you could fill the gaps with cereal etc.

We stayed in the Tom Hayter room, which was reached by going out of the hotel and around the back... this may sound like a hassle but it wasn't at all and as a plus the rooms have a small outside space and benefit from being single story (so no noise from above). The walls in the room were very thin and my girlfriend and I were kept awake a little by the thunderous snoring coming from next door... so my only real criticism of the hotel is the thickness of the walls.

The location of the hotel is fine, Brockenhurst is very small and everything is reachable within a few minutes walk... the town has a surprising amount of great places to eat - and the Snug has a book of reviews written by guests, which is very helpful we ate at Brookley's, which was very nice (Le Poussin is very highly regarded according to the guest comment book, but that was closed the day we went... would definitely try it next time though).

I will be visiting the Cottage Lodge again; its easy to see why it wins so many awards... you can't help but be won over by the friendly approach taken and the interest shown in the needs of the guests.

We chose the Cottage Lodge mainly because of it's location and promixity to Beaulieu Motor Museum. We stayed in the Foresters Master Bedroom which is part of the original house - complete with low beams up the narrow stairs! Good sized bedroom and clean bathroom. The breakfasts were great - cereals plus hot menu options, juices, hot drinks etc. The Snug area had free morning papers, board-games for the evening and the honesty bar - much more to offer than other B&B's I've stayed in. Very friendly owners - willing to impart advice about the local amenities, offer guidance on restaurants, etc.

An excellant B & B with a nice homely atmosphere. The special touches were the cakes left in the snug, the lovely jams at breakfast and the special efforts made to source produce locally. The village itself has some nice pubs and restaurants. Also there are some good walks in the region. I would say it is a really nice place to visit the New Forest.

I wanted a birthday getaway in the New Forest and chose the Cottage Lodge after reading lots of positive reviews. They were also running an offer of three nights for the price of two - on checking the website regularly, they often have good offers on.

The Cottage Lodge did not disappoint - it was the best B&B we have ever stayed in. I absolutely loved all the thoughtful touches, like the championing of local produce, a variety of which was available, and the the honesty bar in the 'Snug,' which was unique.

The owners and staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming without being 'in your face.' Our room (the Burley) was beautifully decorated and although it was in the newer part of the building, it fitted in with the cottage style of the B&B. The walk-in wet room with shower is a novel idea too, and we were also supplied with sumptuous lotions and potions. The patio area is quiet and charming and I can imagine it being lovely to sit out there on a summer's evening - unfortunately, it is still a little too cold for that in March!

The breakfasts were delicious and set us up for the day, again all made with local produce which gave us an opportunity to try various different foods.

I'd recommend it to anyone and am already missing the luxury and the New Forest ponies!

Once again at the Cottage Lodge , - this time for a weekend to celebrate husband birthday , so i booked the large King William room with the lovely four poster .. . a lovely room , beautifully furnished , and a bed with wonderful crisp cotton sheets , a bamboo ( yes really !) blanket and silk coverlet , couldnt have been more romantic .. . Fantastic en suitewith all the lovely eco-goodies , and once again the great 'New Forest' breakfast to set you up for a long day out walking .

Last time we had the very smallest room , which admittedly has a tiny shower , ( though they do point this out ) but again is just beautiful, and its only tiny because its an ancient cottage built for smaller people . However IMHO, its just romantically snug and again with a wonderful bed with beautiful bed linen , .

Christina and crew are really welcoming, .(and they even gave my husband birthday chocs and a card! )
The Snug with log fire and honesty bar a really nice touch , as is the unlimited locally made cake!

This place really is worth going to , ive just booked up for another weekend, this time taking our bikes , .
.
Theres so many good reviews on this site about Cottage Lodge , believe me if ther were no others id almost be loathe to write mine because its one of those places that deserves to be popular , but in a way you dont want to let on about it .........
