We stayed for one night B&B at a cost of £144.00 for two. The room was very small, old formica furniture, no bath only a shower. As another guest has said, only one very small shampoo and shower gel. We had lunch when we arrived - a very tasteless risotta and OK sausage and mash. Paid over £10 for two glasses of mediocre wine, served in hideous stumpy wine glasses. Service in the bar area was very poor; the bar person served someone in front of me, then disappeared for 10 minutes before coming back to serve me. Dinner on the Saturday night was in the Bistro - very 70's decor and menu. Starter and wine were OK, we asked for decent sized glasses from the restaurant. No Bombay Sapphire gin, only Gordons. Couldn't have a dessert from a different menu, apparently they're not able to do that. All in all, food very disappointing. Breakfast next day was average; I've had better in £20 a night B&Bs. Please don't think I'm one of these people who loves to complain - I don't - however I just expect good service, good food and decent rooms when I'm paying this sort of money. The only thing going for this place is the lovely village setting, but I'd look elsewhere to eat and stay. Maybe the Rose & Crown was good years ago, but I really think it's resting on it's previous good name.
