Important info before I begin…… Clean, Friendly, delicious food, well worth it!

Ok well were shall I start, we booked this break for our 20th Wedding Anniversary, we arrived at the hotel at 1pm an hour early but the friendly lady who greeted us booked us in straight away and informed us that there would be no staff available after 5pm but there was a phone linked to 21 The Lakes.

We were shown to our room the Tudor Suite, we stayed for 2 nights and had a brilliant time. The room is exactly like the picture on their website I have attached some pictures I took whilst there.

The Tudor room was fantastic, a big comfy four poster bed with fresh clean sheets and lovely pillows( my husband fell asleep at 8pm on our first night there it was so comfy!) .

In he bathroom we had a gorgeous spa bath for 2 people( im sure you could have fit 4 people in this bath!) which I am now altering my bathroom to fit one in !

The room had French doors that looked out onto the garden and dancing fountains lovely…. In the wardrobe there was a small fridge big enough for lot of goodies!

The breakfast we were given next morning was delicious, well proportioned and there was plenty of variety and we didn’t have to wait either morning, just sat straight down.

The hotel gives you complimentary passes to the Parklands Country club, pool, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi.

This hotel is worth the money if you want a break away from the usual.

We can't wait to try out the other rooms...we are going back in June we think to the Tarzan and Jane room!

For a lovely meal try `The Porthole` overlooking the lake in Bowness.

I hope this was of help to you.

“A brilliant weekend”

Just returned from a fabulous weekend with my boyfriend at Aphrodites. We arrived Friday evening around 6pm and we checked in staright away. We were staying in the indonisian room as we had only booked the wednesday before so only had about 3 rooms to choose from. Although it wouldn't be our first choice of room we were pleasently surpirsed. The decor and theme of the room was good and very clean. The bed was huge and very comfy. We had a nice view over looking the pool (open in summer) and the dancing fountain.
The bathroom was gorgeous and featured a sauna just big enough for two, aswell as a big jaccuzi bath. Overall the room was brilliant, maybe a little bit dated but i think that is just my opinion and taste on the theme.
The only thing that didn't impress us about the hotel was the breakfast. we paid the 4pound to get breakfast in bed on our first morning (saturday) and picked what we would like etc the night before. The food wasn't particularly bad but i wouldn't say it nice either. the sausage was a bit yucky to say the least. so we didn't bother with breakfast on the second day.
The location is lovely, we got taxi's into Bowness on the evenings, which was only 2pound50 each way. Then we walked into Bowness and back on the Saturday. A lovely walk, even in the drizzle of January. We walked the lake route which was nice (apart from the hill which left us panting a bit). Bowness is a lovely little place with nice shops and some excellent places to eat. Fri night we ate at Rumours italian, gorgeous food, brill service, busy place so booking would be an idea. Saturday we had lunch at Robertos bistro which again was lovely and their evening menu looked nice and good value with 3 courses for about 15pound. Then saturday night we opted for chinese (the one opp rumours but i've forgto the name) which had pretty drab decor but amazing food and very fast service. Each meal we had was amazingly reasonable. We had drinks in a few pubs and bars in the area, the nicest place was The in t' wall which is up a little side street near Chruchill's bar.
So all in all we had a fantastic weekend and although it can work out quite pricey to stay at aphrodites it can be worth it. the location is perfect for a relaxing weekend and the rooms are something a bit different.
We have stayed at the sister hotel, 21 the lakes which is close by and also nice.

We spent one night at Aphrodites Lodge in the Flintstone Suite after spending the night before at its sister hotel 21 The Lakes in the contempary suite.

When myself and my now fiance look at staying in any hotel the rooms are really important and what can i say this was the best room we have ever stayed in from the spa bath for two to the log fire which uses eco logs purchased from reception for only £2.50. The bed was huge and so comfortable we had such a laugh and it was made all that more special as my boyfriend popped that all important question.

We were ever so nervous about staying due to the reviews we'd read and all i can say is we are glad we took no notice.
There was some work being carried out around the hotel and grounds which we hadnt been informed of when booking but this didnt effect us in the slightest due to the Flintstone Suite having its own private access off the car park very private.

We were offered at an additional charge of ruffly £50 a outdoor hot tub which we declined and we were glad we did because the only place it could possibly of been was around the corner in what appeared to be a shed not exactly romantic looking to us plus its not needed due to the spa bath for 2 people in the room.

We were situated on the groud floor which was excellent due to the room having its own private access however the room above must of had wooden flooring so we could hear some movement from our neighbours but to be honest it didnt really bother us too much.

It was obvisouly very quite due to the time of year and it being the week before xmas and we chose not to eat in the restaurant as it was so quite and we like a bit of atmosphere when eating out plus they only offer a light snack menu and if you want an evening meal you have to go to 21 The Lakes which is a minus so we cant comment on the food.

We found the staff to be helpful but not quite as friendly as the staff at 21 The Lakes this comment mean't in no way mean to them as they weren't rude in the slightest...... I guess its just different personalities in people and the staff we met were either hindered by language barriers or just don't have that kind of bubbly friendly personality naturally however as I say they were helpful.

All in all this is an amazing place and I would recommend it to any adults wanting a truley unusual experiance.

Not as bad as some of the other reviews. Stayed at the Clepoatra suite which was different to usual hotel rooms. It included an aqua bath in the lounge which was good! The themed rooms are very nice. Staff were very helpful and I have to say the best customer service we have received at any hotel!! the only downside is the rooms are very expensive for what they are even with the weekly specials.

“Little touches of luxury in the Lakes”

My partner and I stayed in the Indonesian suite in Nov 07 on a last minute getaway for my birthday. Checked in Tuesday, earlier than the stated time but our room was ready so no problems there. The Indonesian was lovely, very spacious with a fabulous 4 poster bed - one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. We were on the first floor and the view over the gardens and the dancing fountain was lovely. Nice touches included the wine glasses and duck down bedding. The double spa bath was loads of fun too but make sure you give it plenty of time to fill up! Didn't use the sauna but that was another nice touch. Good size refrigerator for a bottle of wine etc.

In the week we stayed they had just started offering bar snacks and drinks in the evening which is above the normal standard for a lodge/B&B place.

I would say it was within walking distance of Bowness but on a steep hill which is tough on the way back if you're not a seasoned walker.

All in all would describe Aphrodites as a little bit of luxury in the Lakes. Will definitely stay again but would keep to a first floor room as the ground floor terraces did not look very private.
