“Fantastic B&B, Great Staff, Great Food, Great Location”

Dene House

17 Jul 2008

Have never reviewed before but this B&B is a real find.

Having previously self catered in the lakes we were heading that way again, but having read reviews of this B&B we thought we'd give it a try.

We have just finished a week long stay. We arrived after a long-drive and were met with a very warm welcome, with a hot drink and sample of local biscuits/cake.

It was great to stay somewhere where the people were so friendly. It didn’t seem put on; they gave excellent recommendations for places to eat and attractions to visit and had a great selection of printed local guided walks for guest’s to borrow.

Can't comment on all the rooms but our room was a good size with en-suite shower and WC. The room was at the front of the house with lot's of natural light. The bed was comfortable. The room was well equipped; TV, iron and board, radio alarm with CD player, corkscrew, wine glasses, kettle and a half size fridge (invaluable). The rooms were cleaned every day.

The breakfast’s were superb, between us I think we sampled most things, whether it was the ‘buffet’ breakfast bar of cereal’s, fruit, yogurts or the cooked options scrambled egg’s and salmon or the full breakfast- this was where they truly excelled.

We would highly recommend Dene House and will be going back- no more self catering.

“Fantastic Bed and Breakfast, We can't fault it!!!!”

This was our second stay at Denehouse and we love it. We had a lovely stay in May 2007 and returned in March 2008. Having had a rather disastrous stay at a b and b in Windermere previously, we came upon Denehouse almost by accident.

We were welcomed with fresh coffee and cake which was a winner in my book. My boyfriend laughs at how excited one woman can get at the prospect of homemade cake/biscuits on arrival, but it really is nice and men just don't understand about women and cake!!

We have stayed in two different rooms and both were tastefully decorated, light and spotless. We can't fault this b and b, the owners are polite and pleasant and let you come and go as you please without any hassle. The breakfast sets you up for the day and is freshly cooked and the quality of it is second to none.

Denehouse is in a fantastic location, a few minutes walk into town to the bars and restaurants, and we have had some nice meals at the restaurants that have been recommended and at ones that we have stumbled across.

If you are looking for a b and b that provides an excellent base with modern and clean rooms, pleasant owners and a nice and friendly environment then Denehouse won't disappoint. We will be returning and we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

“A real find”

Dene House

8 Dec 2007

We stayed at Dene House on the night before our wedding. They made the stay very enjoyable.

It is a lovely B&B, all of the rooms are lovely, very well decorated to a high standard.

The breakfast was lovely - everything was fresh very tasty.

It is in a very good location and would be a great place to use as a base to explore the Lake District. It is within walking distance of Bowness and was also really easy to reach from the motorway.

Had the pleasure of staying at Dene House for a couple of nights as a base to do some sightseeing in the Lakes. My wife and I had intended staying elsewhere in Bowness but were not able to arrange a room for dates we wanted so I found this hotel whilst looking at some trip advisor reviews. Although we do not entirely depend on other travellers reviews before arranging accommodation I must admit that on this occasion I was so impressed with previous travellers comments that we went ahead and booked. What a great decision as we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a great room (Bedroom 3) which was above average size and was tastefully decorated and furnished and very clean and well maintained . The en suite bathroom was of a good size , also spotlessly clean and along with the bedroom provided with thermostatically controlled radiators so you were always warm. The breakfast quality and choice was very good and set you up for a days walking and served in a lovely dining room overlooking the front of the house. The hotel is situated just off the road with its own car park spaces to the front and then only a short walk down into the village and hardly any noise to be heard at night. During our visit we were made to feel very welcome and would not hesitate to return to Dene House for another satisfying stay.
