Have just returned from a short but superb stay at Dene House. Everything about our stay was excellent, from the room through to breakfast. Can not fault any part of it. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and gave us details of a lovely walk where you could take in fantastic views of the Lake and surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a first class, but very reasonable stay in the Lake District.

“Would definately recommend”

Dene House

My partner and I stayed here on 13/14th Feb 2007.We wanted somewhere that was going to be quiet and relaxed.Somewhere we could just 'chill out' and we were not disappointed. We were served tea and freshly home made cherry yoghurt cake and biscuits on arrival. We were left alone to do our own thing and come and go as we pleased and found the staff to be pleasant.
Our room (no 2) was excellent.Clean, spacious and with everything you could possibly need. The small fridge was brilliant as we were able to chill our wine and enjoy when we wanted to. There were wine glasses and a cork screw provided.
The breakfasts were very good quality and plentiful. The location was really good also.About a 3minute walk had you at the lakeside. Very close to the shops, restaurants and pubs.
All in all we had a very good experience at Dene House and would highly recommend to all.

Everything about this B&B is great.

Fabulous location - right in the heart of Bowness and about two minutes walk from the lake, shops and good range of restaurants. Nevertheless, it's an extremely quiet location and there's no traffic noise or any other disturbance.

Lovely, spotlessly clean room on the first floor with bay window. Huge bed, two comfortable armchairs, fridge, lovely furniture and nice thoughtful touches like wine glasses and corkscrew. The only thing I would have changed would have been to have a firmer/newer mattress - it was a wee bit soft for me.

Delicious breakfasts with fresh fruit salad, porridge and fab sausages! The owners were very warm and friendly, without being intrusive.

Would definitely recommend and looking forward to staying again.

“excellent!!”

Dene House

29 Aug 2006

Just returned from Dene House. Stayed here 27th August. Booked this on the strength of other reviews on this site and they are spot on. Could not fault it at all!! Dene House is close to the centre but in a very quiet location. When we arrived we were greeted at the door, shown to our rooms and were given afternoon tea on the terrace with home made biscuits and cake. What a great personal touch! The rooms were lovely. Ours was on the first floor with en-suite. The furnishings and decor were immaculate. My sister in law was on the top floor and again the room was fabulous. The breakfast which was served in their beautifully furnished dining room was excellent. Would certainly stay here again.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 1 night for my birthday and it was great.

Upon arriving, we were shown straight to our room (no 3) very spacious, big double bed, fridge, 2 seats and a table, wine glasses and tea/coffee making facilities. It had an en suite shower room, all modern and very luxurious. The room had a large bay window and it was amazing to wake up to the view of trees outside the window. Another plus is the private car parking facilities right outside the property.

We were then offered a cup of tea and were brought fresh banana cake, home made melting moments and homemade ginger snaps. It really was such a lovely touch, especially after the long drive there.

I would reommend to anyone to try the restaraunt down the road called 'Stefans'. We had an amazing 3 course meal with drinks for only £46!! The hotels is right next to the lake, so a romantic stroll after dinner topped the night off perfectly.

You are given a key for the frontdoor so you can come and go as you please. The breakfast was delicious, the only thing it didnt have was beans, but it had proper sausages, bacon, eggs, toast, hash browns and black pudding if you wanted. Fresh juice, tea/coffee, fruit salad and yoghurt selections.

I would recommend this to anyone, old or young, the service is next to none and your made to feel so welcome.

I will definately visit again.
