After seeing the website and the brochure, we were really looking forward to our stay here. On arrival we found out we were in the attic (up 43 stairs), room was small and the bathroom tiny. The bathroom was not the cleanest, and all the decor was tired. Even with running the cold tap in the sink, the shower water was not very hot. Good tea and coffee facilities and the breakfast was good (apart from the hair in my egg) and the owners were friendly, but I would not go back, there are many other places in the area.

“Great Location”

Booked on laterooms on a whim and spent a long weekend (thurs night thru sunday).

Imediately warmly welcomed by Alan who was most helpful and enthusiastic about the local area.

Booked the four poster room which was a little basic but fine for our needs, bathroom nice and clean just dissapointed with the lack of a bath but shower pretty good and plenty of space.

The hotel is ideally situated as its just a 5 minute walk from windamere centre and 10 minutes down to Bowness. The Sheriffs walk just down the hill is also pretty nice, get you straight away from the busy road into Bowness from Windermere.

All in all a really nice stay, Thanks to the staff who were always around and always most helpful, glass of wine in the back garden in the sunshine was pretty much perfect.

“A home from home for our young family”

With a 4 year old and a 10 month old baby, we have always struggled to find child friendly hotels, that actually do what they say. We found the staff at Woodlands couldn't do enough to make sure our two night stay was stress free. Sarah the owner showed us around the kitchen so that we had access to a fridge and could store and heat up baby food whenever we wanted.

The breakfast was great, with our daughter particulary enjoying the local organic sausages. We even got to take Rosie, the family dog for a walk through the beautiful woods across the road.

There is a family room on the ground floor, with a large double and bunk beds, you even have your own entrance, so fantastic for families of any age. You can easily walk to either Windermere or Bowness from the hotel.

This really is a wonderful hotel. Top tip, don't forget to ask for vouchers to use the local country club's leisure facilities. We took the girls and had great morning playing in the swimming pool.

“The Camera can lie”

Very poor dated rooms that did not reflect the photo's on the Web Page. The staff were fine but at times were busy talking to friends and did not look to be interested in our well being. The Price would have been ok if the photos and service had not been so misleading.
