“inconsiderate fellow guests”

We have just returned from a one night stay at the Stags Head with our 2 girls. We stayed there 13 years ago after our wedding and decided to go back to celebrate our anniversary with our children, as you do! We requested a quiet room as we knew the hotel had a basement disco. The room was basic and clean with a double bed and bunk beds, plenty of room for us all. We went out for a meal at night to the Village Inn which I would def reccommend to families. We returned at 9ish to settle the girls down for the evening, then the fun began! Fellow guests disregarding the no smoking rule, smoke alarms going off at 11 oclock and 3 am, on opening the door a definite smell of cigarette smoke. We also experienced an argument lasting over an hour starting at 4:15am by occupants of the room directly opposite ours. Then at 11, 12, 2, 3 and 5 lots of shouting and slamming doors! Many thanks to "Natalie" whose room they seemed to be going to! I do not think this hotel should continue to be advertised as suitable for families, as we ,as much as anyone love to party but are able to consider other people.
The hotel staff cannot be faulted as they work very hard to maintain a clean hotel. Ok for single party goers. No go for families! Hope this helps

Basically this is a hotel set above a gigantic pub and that's it. It looks nice from the outside but when you go through the doors it's just a pub with even a niteclub in the basement that's on until 2am, we were 3 floors up and still got awoken by people leaving in the street at 2.30am. The back of the hotel where we were is one big building site with noisy workmen to wake you up first thing in the morning. The rooms are not too bad, quite clean but the whole place could do with a bit of a paint job, it seems to let the lake district down a bit. At the end of the day, if you have a few extra pounds to spare then a different hotel is what you want if you're after a quiet and relaxing stay.

I have roughed it a bit in my time in the Forces but never had to pay for the privilege for doing so. This place was filthy and the breakfast was so burnt it should have turned up in an urn ! It was 25 degress outside and the radiator was fully on and with being broke we were unable to turn it off and to make matters worse we could not open the broken windows. We stayed at a cheaper B&B the night before in Kendall called Balcony house which was ten times better than this. Never again will we go to the Stags head on Bowness

Myself and my husband stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and it was a great weekend, all the staff were helpful and the food was good too and was also very clean, on the morning of our anniversary we had breakfast up in our four poster bedroom and the hotel also arrange the most lovely handtied flowers, eating breakfast to the sound of St Martins bells ringing on that sunday morning was one of the best days of my life. WHAT A GREAT PLACE.

My wife and i visited the stags head for my 40th birthday,we were a little put off by the bad reviews we had read but had no need to worry. The hotel is spotless and the rooms are furnished to a high standard the staff are friendly and the breakfast is a full breakfast.Ok its not your usual quaint lakedistrict hotel as its got sky sports in the bar and pool tabels and a disco in the basement but if your looking for a fun good value place to stay in a great location you will be hard pressed to beat the stags head.
