Conveniently situated, the Royson is 15 minutes walk from Shanklin, and the local restaurants, for instance; Saffron, which is highly recommended. It's 20 minutes from Sandown, and 5 minutes from the beach at Lake. A taxi can whisk you to Shanklin or Lake stations in a few minutes, and local bus services connect you reliably with the rest of the island. Our room was nicely appointed, well decorated and comfortable, with a delightful 180 degree sea view. You can watch the lights twinkling on the ships after dark, and see the pier over at Sandown. If you're fit, you can walk into Shanklin Old Town, but it's a fair hike, and you might want to consider arranging a taxi back to the hotel. Breakfast was ideal, although we didn't stay for the evening meals. The bar is a nice touch, and feels like a mini-pub. It opens after dinner, at 8:30pm, and started to fill up around 9:30-10pm when we were there. The owners are friendly and efficient. It was so good, that we're going back mid August, and will even be staying in the same room! Highly recommended.
