I stayed at the Silvercraigs with my Father-in-Law for TT Practice week. I selected the hotel based on previous tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The hotel is situated on Queens Promende in Douglas...it's approx. 1.5 miles from the Ferry Terminal.
As soon as we entered the hotel, we were welcomed by Zoe, the receptionist, with a big friendly smile. The check in was efficient and we were soon in our room.
The room was very spacious and well decorated. Our room had a great view of the promenade & beach. The beds were very comfortable, with memory foam mattress. The only thing preventing a good nights sleep was the constant snoring of my father-in-law (out of control of the hotel proprietor). Rooms had Flat screen TV, with normal terrestrial digital channels. There was Wi-fi, but the signal was poor in the rooms, but very good signal level & speed in the public areas. The en-suites are fully functional, although a little old fashioned.....but the showers were really good. Fresh towels and linen were supplied and ample. Overall, the rooms were very comfortable.
Full cooked breakfast was served daily from 8:30am and offered good quality and choice. All hot breakfast items were grilled or oven cooked....nothing was fried. Personally I liked this touch.
There is a bar in the spacious public sitting room, Though hours were limited.
Parking is on the street, but we had no issues finding space for our motorcycles.
The owner, Stuart and his partner Diana made all guests feel very welcome and tried to know all guests by their names. In fact all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We could not have wished for better hosts.
I've stayed at several hotels in Douglas over the years. This is the Hotel we will return to.
