Yet again this venue and the great couple who run it came up trumps for us. We travel a lot and have stayed here four times already - each time they remember what we said and really go out of their way to meet our needs.
There are a lot of multi-national 5* hotel chains that could take a leaf out of Diana and Ron's book of how to keep customers happy and rebooking!
They looked after our dietary needs, made themselves available well before you would normally expect to be able to check in, gave fabulous advice about eating out and entertainment in the area - and what to avoid, but most importantly we were treated as extended family in an understated way but not that would you feel uncomfortable with.
The perfect value for money B & B in Devon.

“Ilfracombe's Little Gem!”

Montpelier B & B

14 May 2008

What a hidden little gem! This surely should be described as more of a boutique style accommodation rather than a B&B. We went to Ilfracombe for a family wedding and found Montpelier B&B on line the week before. It is exactly as described on their website - and in fact, if anything, it doesn't do it justice! The place is immaculate and clean with modern decor and the hospitality provided by Diane and Ron is second to none. We were made to feel really welcome, with tea and coffee facilities in our room and fresh milk every evening, provided with magazines to read during an evening in and were even offered help in choosing footwear for the wedding! Diane took photos of us beforehand in our 'glad rags' and gave us printouts and a disk before we left. Diane's cooked breakfasts are to die for and you can even state what time you would like them served up .... given half the chance, we would have taken her freshly baked bread home with us! They truly are a welcoming couple (and not forgetting adorable Max) and we can't recommend this place enough, we certainly will stay there again when we go for our annual family visit and highly recommend them to anyone who will be visiting Ilfracombe in the future.

As everyone else says - excellent accommodation, good breakfast, friendly and constructive hosts - all we wanted for a celebration trip to Lundy. Many thanks!

“most comfortable bed ever”

Montpelier B & B

7 May 2008

We stayed here over the May Day bank holiday, the room was spotlessly clean with the biggest most comfortable bed we had ever slept in. The breakfasts were teriffic and Diana & Ron were excellent hosts. I would highly recommend this B&B to family friends and anyone else.

My girlfriend and I wanted a weekend to get away from everything and this was perfect! It was easy to find, the owners were a lovely friendly couple who offered helpful advice re: restaurants, things to do etc. The rooms were lovely and light, very tastefully presented and extremely clean. The photos on their website were, unusually, very accurate in terms of showing what to expect. Breakfast was excellent. And all for a good price. I would highly recommend it for anyone, and hope to return at some point :).
