We have just stayed at the Imperial on a self drive five day break and I can only say it has been fantastic...despite the terrible weather!!!
We were fortunate to have great rooms, we had paid a little extra for sea views which was definitely a good move as we had a fabulous balcony patio where we could sit and enjoy the views with a drink in our hands, .... when the sun came out that is!!
All the staff were brilliant I cant remember all their names, but Sue and Angelique were a couple of the girls who either served us in the bar or assisted us in reception and they were really friendly and helpful, Ian a waiter in the restaurant was also lovely and couldn’t do enough for us... as was the Hotel manager Steve, who has a lovely friendly manner and excellent people skills , he could not have been more helpful or polite… and appeared to put in long hours and was always readily available... also very helpful was the maintenance man Paul ... so all in all no complaints there, sorry if I have missed anyone out!!.
As previously mentioned the rooms were great enjoying the large terrace accessed by french doors, my elderly Mum and cousin had a beautiful sunny twin room and I couldn’t believe how large and spacious it was, mine and my husbands was a double, again of good size, both were furnished adequately and the beds were clean and comfy. They were serviced daily and the tea’s coffees etc replenished.
We fell in love with Tenby ...and the great thing about the Imperial was the fantastic location, not only overlooking the beach but virtually in the town (which was full of great architecture & cobbled streets dating back to Tudor & Saxon times ) so even though we had a lot of rain we only had to walk out of the hotel doors and we were in the town or the harbour within minutes.
We had one good day of continuous sunshine and so enjoyed the boat trip to caldey Island , I would highly recommend it, it cost £11 each and was well worth it, it is inhabited by an order of monks, & is a beautiful tranquil haven. Lots of wildlife, flora and fauna, churches, a café where we had a cream tea … lots to see and do…
Back to the Imperial, the restaurant and lounge areas have recently been refurbished and are really comfy and well designed the views whilst you eat are magnificent of the miles of sandy beach and rocks & the rolling ocean. The food was excellent, served promptly and well presented, my favourite was the starter of Goats cheese on a bed of salad and walnuts drizzled with raspberry coulis.. superb..see my photos!! Also loved the vanilla pannacotta dessert, all in all the three course dinner was ample and we enjoyed every meal .. the breakfasts were also excellent, with plenty of choice in the restaurant for both meals, but we enjoyed the full English breakfast most mornings!
The bars were really comfy and inviting and had WIFI and there was an offer on on the spirits meaning my dble G&T was very reasonable ;) especially for a hotel bar!!!
We were fortunate and did manage to park in the hotel car park but I believe there is a car park nearby as it is rather small.
So all in all I would really recommend a stay at the Imperial, I cannot understand some of the reviews saying how awful it was?? We had no complaints at all but if I did have to leave one negative comment and its not really a complaint it would be that the TV’s are small and dated with no freeview, however this did not in any way spoil our enjoyment, and I think I am right in saying that there is a refurb going on at the hotel and that all rooms will eventually have flat screen TV’s with freeview…. which would be a plus if so.
Thanks to all the staff for making our holiday such a success

Wow! Thank you for such a glowing report of your recent stay with us and of your time in beautiful Tenby. The detail you have gone into will no doubt be a great help for the increasing number of people who look at reviews on tripadvisor before booking accommodation. Your praise for the food, facilities, and staff is wonderful and I can’t wait to show the staff your review as comments like yours are a real boost for them. I will also ensure Sue and Nathan see their picture! Once again thank you and it sounds as though you will definitely be visiting Tenby again so hopefully we will see you then.
