the room size was great but even though it was the middle of winter the room airconditioning was set full blast at 17C and wasn't able to be changed. i couldn't warm myself up with a hot shower as there was no hot water. service at reception was slow and my transfer to the hotel was via an employees private car on his way home from work which, for a young single girl, is slightly dangerous. after all this I was charged GPB120 for the night.

We stayed last Saturday night as part of a WA Shearings London Shopper weekend, daytime to be spent in London, an overnight stay near Heathrow Airport and the following day on to Oxford in order to do more shopping!

We paid an amazing £46 ea. for coach journey to London, transfer to the hotel, bed & breakfast and then Oxford and back home on Sunday, for that reason we weren't expecting too much of the hotel but it was absolutely great, would actually choose to stay here again!

Considering we were a coach load, checking in was done very quickly & efficiently, one receptionist checking the names off a list & the other handing out keys, all done in no time at all & our rooms were amazingly large, practically a ballroom, bathroom with bath, wall mounted toiletries, hairdryer, coffee/tea etc. everything you'd want with oodles of space too.

We chose to eat in the hotel that evening and the choice was vast and food was of a high quality, drinks at the bar not too expensive either so all in all a nice experience. We took our drinks to the large lounge area which contained two tv's and plenty of tables and chairs, nice comfy area to relax in.

Only slight negative was the breakfast the next day, lots of choice but not replenished quickly enough, eggs going cold before more bacon came out again etc. To be fair it was extremely busy when we went down but it could have been organised better.

We'll certainly be doing the Christmas Shopper again next year!

Oxford shopping the next day was spot on and a big thank you to WA Shearings and especially to our coach driver Ken, who very kindly dropped us at Knutsford Services, much closer to home, rather than having to go all the way back to Sale.

We chose this hotel to be absolutely sure we could be at the airport in time for a flight to India the next day. The airport shuttle only goes every hour or so, and not to Terminal 4. The taxi charged us a whopping £27.50 from the airport to the hotel (a complete rip off, but I used to think a black cab with a meter was a safe bet ...). I tried to get cash from the ATM in the hotel lobby to get a mini-cab back to the airport the next day and guess what ... it only takes UK cards. Uh, an airport hotel, just how many people are going to stay there who have a bank account in the UK? In the end we had to rely on a kind person who let us share her taxi to the airport, there was no way we could actually get cash until we got there. The room was OK but musty and boring for the price charged. All in all to be avoided at all cost.

Stayed here 1 night before departing London. Out of all the hotels near the airport, this was about medium price (looked on the internet just a couple of days beforehand). We had a triple room which was quite roomy, and a good bathroom. The highway was not far from our window, which wasn't a problem when it was shut, but if you left it open it would be noisy. We didn't have a problem sleeping though. (If you want something a bit more upmarket - I stopped at the Novotel for directions, and it looked quite spiffy in the foyer - thank you to the helpful staff there, who gave me directions). With the hoppa bus, we got caught, in that we were going to Terminal 4 (Qantas flight) but the bus doesn't go there - you have to get out at Term 3 and catch the Heathrow express train there (no cost), but this does add probably 20 mins to your trip, by the time you walk and wait etc. etc. and the whole idea of us staying near the airport was to save on time. As there were 3 of us it was 12 pound all up on the bus, but I think we could have got a taxi for not much more, and it would have been a whole lot easier with our luggage (Aussies travelling for a month). The hotel should have this information displayed on their advertising for the bus - it's too late to change things once you've put your luggage on the bus, then the driver tells you he doesn't go to Terminal 4. We didn't bother with breakfast - but drinks from the hotel bar were a little pricey.... oh and the vending machine had run out of water (was dying for a bottle of water....)
