“Excellent for a preflight stop-over with car parking”

We stayed for one night before an early morning flight to America. The staff could not have been more helpful and polite. The room was comfortable and quiet. The rate we paid included 15 nights car parking on site and was excellent value for money - only a few pounds more than leaving the car in a long stay car park at the airport for two weeks.
The shuttle bus to the airport is £4 per person, a bit steep. A taxi (heavily pushed by the concierge desk - are they on commission??) is an better alternative if there are more than two of you.
We ordered a continental breakfast to be delivered to the room - it was brought on time and was perfectly acceptable although we didn't try out any other food in the hotel.

Stayed in the Marriott Heathrow overnight transitting with the family. Slept in a standard double bedded room and loved the room. Clean and functional with excellent beds and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. Went to London for the day and then thought we would try the hotels restaraunts that night. The kids wanted steak and chips so we walked down the Allies American grill at 7pm. The guy on the desk informed us that the restaraunt was fully booked between 830 and 9pm so there was no tables available for us (the restaraunt had 2 couples eating in there). He did advise us that our room was available for meals that we could order there and send the meals up to our room..............interesting concept with 2 kids under 6 years of age. So we went to the Tuscany Restaraunt which is a little more upscale although the meals were very ordinary. On the negative there was no spirits in the mini bar and the restaraunt food and service is terrible. All in all - the rooms are fantastic, reception is helpful but eat elsewhere. Costa coffee in the reception was great!

“Acceptable but expensive hotel for a business stop at the airport”

Marriott London Heathrow

25 Sep 2007

Quick one night stop over for a meeting. Need to take a bus (there are several different routes so ask) fo the hotel 4 pounds. Check in was OK. Room was acceptable but not extraordinary. Internet connection was good but expensive. They have a wired and wireless connection. There is a little business lounge (with TV), bad coffee and cakes and breakfast but which served rather well for my business meeting at 10 in the morning after the breakfast crowd had cleared out. Hotel restaurant mediocre and very expensive. The hotel is on a busy street near other hotels and nothing really walkable so you are trapped. I wanted to take the bus back to Heathrow for a flight but the concierge advised that to get to terminal 4 (quite far away) a taxi was best and it was 12 pounds. He was right however as the bus would not have been convenient.

All in all, acceptable for a business trip where you stay at or near Heathrow and don't need to go anywhere else.

The Marriott was just right. We had a flight at 10.30am the following day and didn't want to chance a shuttle flight in the morning (as it happened our shuttle the night before was cancelled so we had to get the train).

Minor complaint was that there was no-one on reception for a few minutes but it then only too seconds to sign in,

Rather than pay £4 per person (one way) on the hoppa bus, there are regular buses from the Heathrow bus station which are free for travel to the airport hotels. From the airport the bus stop is right outside and to the airport the bus stop is about 300m away - the driver having seen us walking along with suitcases even waited for us.

The rooms are fine - clean and comfortable. The bar area is fine for a couple of drinks before bed and the staff are friendly.

I suspect a lot of people, like us, will spend less than 12 hours here - simply requiring somewhere to sleep before a morning flight from Heathrow.

If you do need a Heathrow hotel, I'd recommend the Marriott to anyone. I would however recommend avoiding Heathrow airport itself if you can - far too busy and inefficient!

We paid £60 via bulldog for our room.

Truth be known, I am a "platinum elite" Marriott member. So, I cannot gaurantee that everyone will have the same type of room I booked with the platinum desk. But, this was one of the best hotels I've had the privilege of experiencing . . . and I've experienced a few.

In fact, I only booked the room for an afternoon (to get some sleep inbetween flights). But, it was one of the most memorable afternoons in a hotel I've ever had. Walking in the door, you're greeted by music, a turned down, fluffy yet firm bed, an elegant pot of tea with china and all, a large, luxurious bathroom, the daily, local paper on the edge of the bed, and above all else, unparalleled cleanliness.

After soaking the travel trauma out of my exhausted body (in a hot bath) I curled myself up in the cozy bed and fell quickly asleep. I was awoken by the ringing of the telephone and a pleasant, voice (no recording) asking me if I slept well and giving me the statistics of my next flight. Amazingly, on time.
