“Don't stay at this hotel”

Sheraton Heathrow Hotel

My husband and I stayed at this hotel two nights, on our first night in Europe and then on our last night. The first night we stayed there, the room that we got was horrible. The room looked dirty, the furniture was outdated, and the bathroom was very small. The coffee maker was disgusting. We asked for another room, but the receptionist said that there were none available at the time b/c we got there before check out (8am).

If we hadn't booked the room in advance, I would have never came back to this hotel. When we came back about a week later, we got a much better room than the first but that is not saying much since the first room was so awful. The whole hotel just looked like it needed a good cleaning.

The only thing positive that I could think to say about the hotel is that we ordered room service one night and the food was very good.

A lot has been said about the rooms here so I will summarize than add to the debate:

- some rooms have been remodelled. These are tasteful with aircon and windows that open. But they are very small - the bathrooms are compact too. Dont plan on more than 2-3 people squeezing into these rooms.
- some rooms have not been remodelled. These are unacceptable.
- the location is a challenge if you plan on visiting London/you don't have a car. The subway is too far away. This is remote. You have to take the HOPPA bus to get here. This is a pain. I always take a taxi. They hate the short journey but I assure them Im a good tipper and they recover. Parking is sufficient and reasonably priced ($15)
- The lobby is a poor comunal area. This really needs some help. Checkin lines can become painfully slow when the HOPPA bus dumps countless people. They need to focus here.
- The gym is excellent (for the UK!) and open 24/7.
- They have just added a club lounge on the top level. This is small but offers everything you need (great for SPG top tiers)
- The bar is good and will improve with the new non-smoking law in the UK.
- The room service is slow so hit the main restaurant. I recommend the buffet or lamb curry - all good. Theres also a great chinese restaurant within walking distance
- this is often the best value hotel in the heathrow area

Lets see what happens next with the development of the property but for now it works if you get a new room

Cheers

Quite simply one of the worst hotels I have ever seen.

The check in was slow, the corridors smelled awful and the carpets were dirty. It was so bad I chose to check out early and wait at the airport an extra two hours for my flight. It is revolting - avoid at all costs.

I am flabbergasted that anyone would think this a good hotel.

“Still the best hotel in Heathrow”

Sheraton Heathrow Hotel

I've stayed in my favourite Heathrow hotel again in May and in June and loved it. Don't understand some of the reviews when people have super high expectation for an airport hotel. Yes, it is not fancy (I guess I can quote 'boring') hotel far from City and close to the airport and it serves its purpose - to accomodate business travellers for a couple of nights or long-haul travelers for a night between flights.

New Club rooms are completely renovated, sweet sleeper bed is fantastic, internet is very fast in the Club lounge and snacks are tasty and even healhty (fruits, granola bars, nuts, etc). Breakfast in downstairs restaurant is a classic English breakfast with good service.

Will stay at Sheraton again!

Well, what can you say? This is a very typical airport hotel. Decent lobby,OK food, unimaginative but functional rooms.

All in all, it does what it's meant to do, but nothing more. The "Hoppa" bus, at four pounds to and from Heathrow, proved to run frequently and reliably.

If you actually want to visit London, I would definitly reccomend staying closer, since it is a good hour to and from the hotel to anything worth seeing. To me, the savings are not worth the inconvenience.
