My friend and I stayed for one night at The Belmont in January 08. The transfer was easily arranged once we arrived at Gatwick, and it only took about 10 minutes to reach the guest house.
Our room was on the ground floor at the right-hand side of the property. Unfortunately, the door to the room was blocked by a car parked directly outside, so it made getting into the room with our cases quite tricky. (The car had a flat tyre and no current insurance, so I don't imagine it will be moved quickly. )
The room was basic. Clean bedding, one double, and one single bed, and certainly warm enough. The bathroom was very dated, and smelled of mould, but cleanish.
We wandered into Horley and can agree with other reviews that mention charity shops, takeaway food places etc. Horley certainly doesn't appear to be very saloubrious, for sure, and I would give it a miss.
We ate dinner in the bar. Again, basic food: not great, but not bad.
Breakfast was cereal, juices, tea and coffee, and toast.
Our early morning transfer back to the airport was very well organised.
All in all the Belmont is a basic guest house whose strength lies in it's airport transfers rather than the lodging itself. (Bear in mind, pick up from the airport is only from 9am-9pm, returns appear to be at any time.)
The rooms are dated, but clean, and it is good value for money-we only paid £69 for a twin room for one night plus breakfast through Expedia.
I've attached some photos as it's always better to have a look before you book!
